Well, Gregory, I just found out about it yesterday through one of my sources.  I am not on campus and did not see it mentioned on the MC website - so I wasn't sure if everything was official.  Until then, I was keeping my big yapper shut.   ;D

But since you brought it up, what do you think of the hire?

P.S.  Thank you pgkevin.  The gasket is now okay.  (If the MC track coaches had a few weeks with that guy, they'd turn him into an Olympic gold medalist.)   ;)

I don't know Todd Skrivseth, but it seems like a good hire to me, at least on the face of it. Although he's not an Illinoisian, he's spent all of his playing and coaching days in Wisconsin and Iowa. He has extensive D3 experience, so he knows the terrain in terms of what it takes to recruit at this level. (His playing and coaching experience at Coe and Upper Iowa, back when UIU was a D3 institution, should be more helpful in that regard than his coaching experience at UWW and UWSP.) And you can't argue with the fact that he's been part of a very successful program at UWW.

That said, Monmouth in particular and the MWC in general are very different animals than UWW and the WIAC. He looks like a good hire, but there's no guarantee of success for him. You're in a far better position than I to gauge what it would take for Monmouth's program to get off the ground again, and what sort of path the new coach should follow to get there.

And in more important news........... The NRO has filled the vacant position of Prime Citizen.

Is that anything like being the Ambassador to Kazakhstan?

The Roop

Funny you mention Kazakhstan as one of the candidates lives there. Instead I opted with halfway across town instead of halfway around the word. Not that much discretionary spending available on a Mego Lo Mart income.

I don't know what you guys are talking about, but I will uselessly point out that Kazakhstan is a long way from Mikitastan.

The Roop

Keeping with the hockey theme, tomorrow at this time I will be able to say "He shoots, he scores........." As her kids will be visiting family out of town.

Congratulations, The Roop, on taking down Bin Laden.  Nice shootin, Tex!!

I think this might be the first time in all my years of posting that the NRO has been properly staffed and look what happens. Clearly the world is a better place.

Any reports out regarding players committing to MWC schools for next year's 2011 class. particularly for  the Beloit Bucs? The CCIW board has a pretty full list of recruits for IWU, Carthage, Augie and a few others, but I have not seen much word on how the MWC has done in recruiting for MBB. Beloit made progress last year, but more help is needed to get back to being a contender for a MWC title. Hopefully some help is on the way, as the Bucs are still a young team with potential to be considerably better with just a few key additions, preferably at C and PF.

The Roop

I usually hear something, whether I ask or not, but thus far the grapevine appears to be dead.

What's the status on Cornell College? Are they back in the MWC next year or is it 2012-13? Or maybe they haven't been approved. I've lost track.
