Practice has started for all MWC men's basketball teams as of this past Saturday.  Good luck to all of the teams.

If you have any information regarding the teams that could be good pre-season discussion, please, share it with us.

Curious as well for any sort of news anyone has.  Newcomer the past year or two, but man even since a year ago this board has dried up.

Maybe we can get Hopefan to come on over to this board and single handedly carry it as well. :)

If I was in Appleton I'm sure I'd have some good nuggets, but living in the Twin Cities is not good for information gathering

Beloit starts the season against Wheaton in their tournament. It's Beloits first of 7 on the road to start the year. A couple sources tell me there are 19 in camp but the website only has 12 listed and no freshmen. So my guess is they do have 19 in camp and don't update their website until mid December; per usual.

GC men and women's basketball starts on Saturday with alumni games. Always a good time, and a chance to see what the new crop of first years look like.

Opening at Wheaton and DIII first team All American Tim McCrary is not a good thing for the Bucs. Hopefully lessons will be learned against one of the top CCIW programs.

Beloit does now have its full roster posted. 17 players in all including 4 freshmen, none of whom are big men. Still no real C on the Beloit squad.

Lawrence's roster posted:

Biggest name to note, # 20 Davis DeWolfe, who transfered from St. Norbert to play for LU this season.

Anyone know what the story is there? Just curious.

for GC men's basketball fans, the alumni game Saturday was a blast - an alumni 'dream team' of the top players from the past 10 yrs vs the current team. The alums almost won this one! Great to see Wood, Grotberg, Chamberlain, Bruns, Knisley, and everyone else playing together! Plus the bonus of seeing Bruns beat Grotberg at the 3 pt shooting contest during halftime!!

"Grinnell men's basketball team receives votes for national rankings: The Grinnell College men's basketball team is among squads receiving votes in the D3hoops.com national preseason rankings.  The Pioneers received 34 voting points, which ranks 39th among all NCAA Division III teams. The preseason top-ranked team is Virginia Wesleyan, which received eight of a possible 24 first-place votes. Grinnell is the only Midwest Conference team to receive votes in the preseason rankings."

From my friend in the LU admissions department, he wants to be a doctor, and wanted a better pre-med preparation.  Purely academics related, but a nice side effect for LU too.

Attached is a link to the pre-season report for the men's basketball team at Grinnell College.  Optimism is very high for the Pioneers this season.
