Hard to make a prediction on Friday's matchup between GC and SNC. They've met twice and each has walked away with a win. If GC brings the effort they showed on Saturday, they will win. But their away games have been spotty. We'll see....

Well...not a great season for the Vikes.  But a season sweep of Ripon makes it a little better!  Better Dead Than Red!!!

I only wish their loss last night knocked them out of the playoffs making it even sweeter....

I just feel so bad about being wrong.  Thanks Beloit!  BETTER DEAD THAN RED!

OBC

Beloit wins 5 of their last 6, including wins over St Norbert, Lawrence and Ripon. Do I sense a sea change in Southern Wisconsin? I would ask The Roop, but it would appear he has other things on his mind right now. It's evident why his post frequency is down this season.

OBC

All conference picks, anyone?

Four obvious choices (Clark POY, Lentsch, Wurtz and Koth) and a fifth spot opening due to the 5th obvious choice disappearing. Who else is out there? Bremner?

Actually it has more to do with my work schedule than anything else. I'll see what I can do to get more Monday and Thursday games on the schedule next season.

The good news is that it's not an away game.  :D

From the (lack of) traffic on this site it's hard to believe there's a conference tournament tomorrow.

Question: Doesn't the host usually play the second game in the opening round?

That's my memory of it. I was surprised to see the order of tonight's games.

By the way, OBC, it could be problematic if Carroll somehow puts LFC away. They always cause issues for GC.

Yep, it does seem like a little gamesmanship by LFC. Whoever they might face in the final not only deals with being on the road, but 2 1/2 to 3 hours less recovery time.

I'll take my worries one game at a time and St. Norbert always gives the Pioneers a tough game.

In an all Pioneer final, I think we would prosper at a neutral site.

There's a chance that one of the teams from the later game (perhaps Grinnell, who has to travel farthest?) requested it too.  A 4.5 hour bus ride (probably closer to 5.5+ with stops for lunch and a pregame meal) for a 5:00 means you probably have to get there at 3:00 at the latest, I would imagine... And then you're leaving at 9:30 at the very latest, which doesn't give you much wiggle room, if any.

For the 7:30 game, you could leave at noon at the latest, probably.

looking pretty good for CC at the half, up 39-30 over LFC. LFC looks a little flat and CC has gone on a shooting spree. At this point, I'd love a rematch with LFC!

Lake Forest fights back and takes the lead briefly at 61-60 but Carroll fights to hold on 77-70.

OBC

This must have been an UGLY game. Grinnell loses 83-103. In four other losses this year, Grinnell had a chance to win 3 of them. This one; no chance.

A collective shooting slump. The seniors went 2-17 from the arc.

I'm sure everyone is disappointed.

The Roop

They are still 18-5 in region and own two wins over the regular season champs. Whether this puts them in the field or not they should be on the board at least and get consideration.

Warren Buffetts secretary is on the selection committee this year I've heard.

Those two wins against regionally ranked Lake Forest have already been taken into account and in the last regionally ranking, Grinnell wasn't ranked.  That means they have to jump into the rankings to even be considered.  Since they lost their only game of the week against an unranked opponent, it's not going to happen.  Lake Forest is on the bubble and they were ranked 4th this past week.  Grinnell is done.

Below is the Midwest Regional Rankings from last week.
