Attendance listed in the box score from last night's game: 300

Seriously?  300 for Monmouth vs. Knox?

scottie - Haven't we discussed this in the past?

Yes, this is a little peculiar - especially for THIS game.  A few scottietheories:

1.  Would YOU come over if you were from "Monmouth East" to watch your teams lose by a combined 47?  Me neither.   :o

2. The women's game shows an attendance of 350 (+50 than the men's game).  A national ranking should be worth at least a +50 margin, but the baseline needs to get higher.    >:(

3. Finals weekend?   ;)

4. The campus is taking this "football school" thing a little too seriously.   :D

5. Without the chance of a scottiesighting, the women stay home.   ;D

Heya, Scottie and Maverick! Good to see a little levity return to the board.

Especially Point # 5.

Have a great holiday, you two and may the guy in RED visit you both!

jeffp: Thank you, and may a few extra Karma points find their way into your stocking.   :D

p.s.  One of my scottiesources tells me that the students were done with finals and off campus by Sunday, thereby mostly ruling out Theory #5.   8-)  Why is it that Monmouth East always seems to play in Glennie when the Crimson Crazies are away, and yet T. Fleming is always packed with flying purple people eaters?

So whatever happened to The Roop? Is he in witness protection?

Have you ever seen the movie, "Shawshank Redemption"?  It's kind of like that, but without the happy ending....   ;D

Actually, I think he's making like MacGyver in the Wisconsin wilderness somewhere and will be back with us once he regains his online capabilities.  (Either that or witness protection!)

1. Good point.

2. True...hopefully it builds as the season progresses.

3. Unfortunately, finals somehow manage to get in the way of this game again! Where are the priorities of the schedule-makers?! ;)

4. Possibility...I started looking forward to the 2013 season as soon as the final seconds ran off the clock at the Turkey Bowl. 8-)

5. And the award for most humorous thing ever posted by scottie goes to...number 5!  Please come forward to accept your ESPY. :D

What's up jeffp?  Long time, no see/read!  Well, at least up until several weeks ago. ;)

Yes, scottie's Point #5 = laughable. :)

The Monmouth mascot, Big Red, is gonna come visit people for Christmas??  Sweet!  Maybe he'll swing through your neighborhood also!

Little feather in the cap as Lawrence goes to Wisconsin Dells and takes down the previously undefeated Lakeland Muskies 80-73. The fish fall to Viterbo the following day.

Cool blog, appreciated the piece on Eureka.  This team is no joke and has at least two players who I feel could be at the D-1 level right now if things had broken differently, Dustin Fritsch and Mark Lessen (this year's version).  I, for one, am glad they're not!

Sunday, Dec. 30...

Carroll at Cornell

A conference game in the middle of holiday break, on a Sunday?  Wow.

Not to mention the Friday, Dec 22 conference game between Cornell and Monmouth.  That's some interesting scheduling.

Big article in this week's Sports illustrated (Dec. 31st cover date) about Grinnell's Jack Taylor and his 138 point night. The article also gives some background on the other 2 players that scored 100 or more points in college, Frank Selvy and Bevo Francis.
