Best of luck today in GC's contest with Cornell. First time matchup in my years of watching GC. Should be fun!
Threes are better than twos....

Wow! Great come-from-behind win for GC against Cornell. GC was down 20 pts at one point, and was missing several players (illness?), lost leading scorer Jack Taylor early in the game due to injury. Yeager and Lentsch stepped up to fill the scoring, with Lentsch having an awesome game. Lots of contributions from everyone. Great road win for the Pioneers.

fantastic quote from the assistant Arsenault in this article:  http://thegazette.com/2013/01/10/minus-jack-taylor-grinnells-basketball-team-has-another-unforgettable-game/

"We talked at halftime about maybe pulling the plug on our system," Arseneault said. "We didn't want to risk injury for any our guys. I know it's meant to be played with 15 guys, and we only had 13 in uniform. And a couple of them at the end — not that they're not nice kids, but they're just not that great at basketball."

This is going to change GC's game plan for the rest of the season: "Taylor had a radial fracture in the wrist and is out for the rest of the season."
Threes are better than twos....

I knew a lot of the players were out - but 8??? It's amazing they played as well as they did. When you're running 3 shifts and then suddenly remove almost half the players, it really screws things up. And yet they adjusted. Kudos to the GC team, and here's hoping they get well by Sat for their tumble with LU.

Read the whole damn Gazette article about the Grinnell game. This really is a team folks. No matter what happens the rest of the season, this is a team. No matter what nonsensical pitter patter you come up with to put them down, this is a team. No matter how you hate the "unsportsmanlike" behavior of this group, this is a team. Even without Taylor, I wouldn't want to bet against 'em. Congrats to the Grinnell Pioneers...and to the 3 contributors from the end of the bench? Well, YEAH!

ExBBaller40

Still a tough loss not having Taylor...that's one shift where you don't have one of your designated scorers on the floor, which probably forces a mixing and matching of other shifts to make up for it...Lentsch will definitely have to pick up his scoring, which he did against Cornell.

Yeah, Grinnell's and the NATION'S top scorer as well. Taylor will be missed sorely, but some others found out they DO know how to step up. I'm just not ready to write the obit quite yet.
