OBC

Scottie, you must be referring to the Packers. A Bears win over the Vaqueros only make it tougher for the pack to win the division.

thanks for the write-up, OBC. I was unable to watch all but the first 10 minutes of the game (via a very shaky video feed in London), but those 10 min were very impressive. The loss was a heartbreaker, but nothing to be ashamed of on the Pioneer's side.

Actually that game was meaningless. From a style points status a Cowboys win would make it look better but since the Bears and Packers meet again, that is likely to determine the division; provided the Lions lose one more. The tie with the Vikings that everyone around these parts was crying about looks better all the time. 9-6-1 beats 9-7 every day by virtue of one less loss and no need for head to head tie breakers.

In basketball news, Americas Team finally got the skunk out of the boat and topped Lake Forest. Didn't watch it as I decided 4:30PM was a good time to go to bed. Haven't been sleeping well lately, sinuses, so when 4:15 came around I texted Mrs. The Roop to let me sleep if I was sleeping when she got home. Apparently that was the wrong thing to do but she did let me sleep. When I did wake up I made the mistake of asking if she was mad at me. Guys, if you're married, you already know what the response was. Single guys, "No, I'm not mad at you" means she's mad at you.

In lieu of employment I'm rehabbing the upstairs apartment in exchange for expenses and two months rent. Today it became obvious that some things are beyond my ability and am trying to decide how to break it to the land lord in the morning. My first thought was "Get the check book out and start writing"; that probably isn't going to go over well so I'll have to think of something else.

Do ya'all all think we could unite and send thoughts, prayers and healing vibes (in whatever way you are comfortable) to our good friend and Grinny OBC? OBC hit a rough patch here the last few days and even though he is apparently feeling better, I'm sure he could use the laugh caused by a unanimous "Heal up, Coach!" from this board.

The Roop

I just did some trading in the S. Beloit Nation. I raise a toast to OBC with the spirits I've acquired.

Don't know you OBC but my prayers are with you.  I assume that the Grinnell contingent is okay with prayers.

Stay true to the System, OBC! Shake it off and keep shooting!  ;D

scottie

OBC: I hope it wasn't my remark about the Packers that got you in your current state. :)  Hang in there!

Grinnell - 156
Simpson - 150

This game took 17 hours, 3 minutes and 12 seconds to play. Really. I'm dead serious.

OK, maybe 2 hours and 25 minutes is more like it, but the game was stretched beyond my nap time easily. Grinnell was charged with 40 pfs, Simpson with 36. Yes that IS correct. 76 pf, 118ft shots taken and 92 ft made; Grinnell with 45 Simpson with 47. The game was evenly called...and called...and called  ::)

Almost always fun to play Simpson, because they usually love to run with Grinnell. Even though this game sounded more like a two step dance than a full on Pioneer/Storm race-a-thon, the game pace didn't disappoint...other than a lotta standing around at the free throw line.

Great overall % for GC and a respectable 35+% from the trey.Taylor had 47 with a game breaking 3 for 3 from 3 in about 30 seconds with about 4 minutes to go. Maher, Yeager, and Levin with  21, 26 and 34. Good to see these guys finding the hot hand and finding the shooter, especially Maher with 16 assists.

Someone on this board called the IIAC a mediocre conference a while ago. Well, Wartburg (3-3) and Simpson (1-8) are next to last and last in that conference and both gave GC a run for the money. BTW, Loras is tied with Wartburg and has a 3 - 3 record overall, but two of those wins have come against feeble competition like Illinois Wesleyan and Wheaton. Whoever made that statement about conference strength may need to re evaluate.

Hope yer home soon, OBC! If you need help with the farm chores, I understand that Scottie and Mr. The Roop are available on a second's notice. And, I know they know how to shovel what you need shoveled out there... ;D

JeffP - it was also a treat to see Grinnell's own Dylan Gretzky playing very well for Simpson. He would have been a nice addition to the GC bench.

No need to reevaluate. The IIAC is a mediocre conference. No IIAC team has ever reached the Final Four, and I'm pretty sure that there has never been an IIAC team in the d3hoops.com top five. The IIAC's D3 tourney record over the years is 28-50 (.359).
