Isn't scheduling like dancing - taking two to tango?  I mean, which Midwestern powerhouse(s) has Mount Grinnell (sorry The Roop) actually tried to schedule?  If the Pioneers simply can't get any desirable takers, I would be curious if anyone would care to "leak" a list of scaredy-cats that have refused a home/home invitation.

Or, could it be that a powerhouse (like Whitewater, for example) views a "W" vs. Grinnell as a lesser-caliber win in the grand scheme of things?

Sincerely,

scottie - the newest "All-American"   ;D

Granted they are not in the midwest but last time I checked D1 Cornell still had an opening on their schedule next season.

Cute analogy, AppletonRocks. GC certainly has put the pickaxe to a few coaches heads...and others have enough talent and enough talented players to accept the challenge. If a coach can't coach and doesn't like their inability to coach challenged, I'm thinking the "pickaxe" comment would be aprapos.

Cute?  I was going for profound. I failed in your eyes, I will take that with me and try to do better.

Grinnell 99
No details yet that I can find.

Wow! Didn't see THAT one coming. Better add Ripon to the mix for the MWC Tourney...

It was pretty bad. GC gave away the ball multiple times, couldn't make the 3 or 2 pointers, and RC did an excellent job of breaking the press and defending the perimeter. After the first 6-8 minutes, RC really controlled the game. It almost seemed like the GC team was sick. At least, I hope so!

Went to the Lawrence at SNC game this afternoon.   St Norbert's won 81-68, with Cerroni making a run of 3 point shots to blow open a lead of 11 for SNC at the end of the first half, after LU was in control for most of it. It was an even game besides that short run. I felt Lawrence should have gotten much more physical with SNC, as apparently the crew (never saw this threesome before) who worked the game was willing to let shenanigans go on uncalled.  ???

Cam Cerroni makes SNC a very good team that cries to the refs every time they are called for a foul or miss a contested shot.  Without him, they would be an average team that cries to the refs every time they are called for a foul or miss a contested shot.

It's really amazing how much they whine, in light of what they get away with.  They apparently play by a different set of rules than visiting teams.  The amount of pushing and grabbing (on both offense and defense) is way above average, and is especially interesting in light of the rules changes that have appeared to be put in place all over the NCAA except in De Pere.

I think they could help there chances down the road by keeping their mouths shut and playing basketball.  Some refs are really not going to take it from them.  Especially since they have to get an earful from Coach Gary Grzesk every time they come past his bench.

This was my fourth game watched this year (all in De Pere) and every time I walk away with the same sour impression of them.   Sorry to be so critical, I will call it like I see it.  Not good for MWC or D3 basketball.  >:(

For a LU fan to call SNC a bunch of whiners is pretty amusing. I opened the book just now to "pot calling the kettle black" and there was a Lawrence basketball logo next to it considering some of the things I heard coming from the floor today, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. I would guess losing nine straight games to someone makes those grapes go from sour to vinegar in a hurry.

As RMK once said, "Now, back to the game." Lawrence had St. Norbert reeling in the first half until Cerroni blew up at the end of the half. Once that happened, LU got rather impatient on offense and took a lot of hurried, forced shots. The lack of any sort of rebounding presence doesn't help LU either. SNC in the last five years has routinely whipped Larry on the boards, but I would surmise they shove, push, grab and crosscheck their way to doing so.

On to Beloit!

Never fear.....College of Faith is here!  (Another school to Google.....)  We'll be checking the ESPN ticker on Tuesday morning.  Happy shooting Jack!   ;)

Since I'm SURE you were curious.....  http://www.collegeoffaith.org/

An interesting passage from their home page:  "The Director of the Arkansas Department of Higher Education has determined
that College of Faith does not offer degree programs customarily offered at colleges and universities and has issued an Exemption from Certification."

Nothing on their webpage about their abundance or lack of laundry amenities.  They do have TWO sports, basketball and football.  (No football schedule or results available....new team?)

Will this be another $1400 contract?  Trying to estimate how this breaks down financially (all numbers conservatively estimated): 1200 miles round trip w/ two vans = at least $400 in fuel; Eight hotel rooms @ $50 each = $400; Per diem of $15 for two days times 16 individuals = $480.  Total = $1280.  That leaves $120 for the tow truck/snow removal and misc.   :o

In case you couldn't stomach reading the whole article,  ;), here was a cool comment added below:

"Our women's basketball point guard broke our single-game, school record for assists last year with 16, but she did not go into the game with the intention to break the record. It was nice to see her reaction after the game when I told her she had broken a school and conference record."

Imagine that!!   :D

BTW, there is no Jack T. in the box score.  Is he having Tommy John surgery?
