Can anyone catch the Knights napping?

I hope not.  ;)

That said, if SNC stumbles, I hope they'd still get a bid. And while I would like to see the conference get two bids, SNC winning out and possibly hosting is much more important. That's the best help for a longer tourney run - which would be the best way to help the conference's image.

Looks like the conference tourney attendees are set after last night.  Grinnel, Ripon, and Monmouth will head to St. Norbert.  Can anyone catch the Knights napping?

Have you ever been to a MWC tourney game at Schuldes Sports Center? You have to be comatose in order to take a nap in there during those games.

Greek Tragedy

Because of the region they are in, geographically speaking, it's tough to host for the Green Knights. When you have the likes of Whitewater and Point, Washington U,  and multiple CCIW teams possibly getting bids, the likelihood isn't good. But they could get a scenario where they get the MIAA champ, maybe the UMAC champ and the 3rd CCIW team. I'm not an expert on those pod guessing games.

I hope the Knights win one for Woody Wilson as he recovers from cancer.

Otherwise Ripon on 120 point tourney from Sabin.

If Grinnell wins they should disband the conference.

Hmm, they didn't after the Pioneers won the tourney title in 2001 or 1996...  ;D

Agreed, it is unlikely. But they absolutely need a tournament win to do so.

I'm not good on guessing these things either. The #6 ranking may not be enough, either. Although one at least one of the state schools has to lose again. I think four teams hosted in the region last year (UWSP, UWW, Wash & IL Wes).

Congratulations to the MWC's REAL Scots for making the tourney, I believe for the first time since '99.  It should be an interesting race for positions 2-4.  Obviously, the 2 or 3 seed would be preferable for the opening round.  And for those of us hoping for a SNC loss to get two teams in the NCAA tourney, I'd almost think the Knights would still need to make it to the final game to get an at large bid.
HEY PAL, DON'T BLOCK THE SHOT!

Greek Tragedy

There will be plenty of teams in the area. You can even consider Minnesota "in the region". 2 MIAC schools, 2 WIAC schools, probably Aurora, a IIAC team, the UMAC rep, sometimes the MIAA rep, if Chicago can win the UAA, that would be 2 UAA schools in the area and possibly 3 CCIW teams.

Of course the CCIW champ, if Wash U wins the UAA, St. Thomas and at least one WIAC school could all host before St. Norbert gets a shot.

The cause of the SNC men might be helped by the UST women - as both are ranked and I believe this is the year that the women get hosting priority for schools that get both in. Of course, SNC women might bump SNC men for the same reason... But a WIAC loss, and UST women bump and I'm saying there's a chance...

but it's unlikely...

I know that defeating SNC at Schuldes would be a tall order but based on the past decade plus, avoiding Grinnell the first game may be more important. In Grinnell's last 11 MWC Tournament appearances, the team that won the Grinnell semifinal lost the final. Grinnell's 2001 MWC Tournament win was the last time the Grinnell semifinal winner took home the plaque.

GALESBURG, Ill. - St. Norbert College matched a long-standing Midwest Conference record with its 41st consecutive win over a league opponent with a 73-40 win over Knox College at Memorial Gym.

The Green Knights (21-1, 17-0 MWC), ranked No. 7 in the D3hoops.com Top 25, matched Beloit College's league record of 41. The Buccaneers picked up the first 40 of those wins from 1947-51, and then after an eight-year hiatus from the MWC picked up the final win in that streak in 1959. St. Norbert will attempt to surpass that mark at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21 at Schuldes Sports Center in De Pere.

Gee, no mention of SNC's win - much less the tying of the conference win streak - in the Top 25 Saturday recap story. :(

Hickory:  Thanks to Lake Forest, Grinnell (currently) sits at the #4 seed.  Too early to congratulate Ripon or Monmouth on their pending championship??   ;)
