At the half, SNC leads Grinnell 53-37

That doesn't surprise me at all. They know how to really slow down Grinnell, something Lawrence did very well in their hayday. I remember LU basically playing 4 corners against the Pioneers when I watched them at the Alex.

Wow, DeValk plays 32 minutes and attempts 2 shots, both 3 pointers?

Check out Sabin's box score from the last game.  When a team plays Grinnell the big men get all the stats and the guards tend to sit back and play defense and handle the ball.

I thought the MWC has gotten out of the Friday/Saturday game schedule?  I guess not. I see LU is hosting Cornell and IC this weekend.  ???

For those entertained, enraged or just interested in Grinnell's system, Ryan Scott has an excellent column in this week's Around the Nation describing how it has spread and evolved at other Division III schools.

All the north schools are hosting doubleheaders this weekend. The south schools did the same back in early December. Probably necessary with the conference back to 10 schools and playing a full round robin schedule of games.

Also, congrats to the Scots on tonight's win over Ripon! Great win on the road after so many close losses. Go get SNC tomorrow to sweep the weekend and climb back in the race!

For being undefeateds, yep. But with two head-to-heads left, those two games could both still be huge in deciding the conference race. still, a nice result for SNC - and Monmouth!

Surprised that SNC is ranked 9th.  Just my opinion; I think there are at least 5 WIAC teams better--Eau Claire, Stout, Oshkosh, River Falls and LaCrosse, two of which already beat them.  Only the Benedictine win looks like a signature win.  No idea if Ripon can play with them, but its possible.

DJ DeValk is a horse that has to pull a lot of weight to get them anywhere in NCAA post season play.

SNC holds serve, beating Monmouth 65-40. Ripon is leading against Cornell.

Get used to it AR. SNC just beats the hell out of an otherwise weak conference, and piles up Ws which the pollsters love to see.
In strong conferences, the combatants savage each other and its much harder to match the number of wins SNC is practically guaranteed. Benedictine is a good team but, again, plays in a weaker conference which allows for the easier accumulation of
lots of Ws.

Very nice win for Lawrence today 63-54 over Ilinois College, with a big second half comeback after trailing 30-20 at half.   Takes the Vikes to 6-2 in the MWC !
