Of course, a statement like that just begs speculation.

Interesting that it's a limited time frame. What is their academic calendar? Have they had roster changes at the start or end date?

My guess (and that is all that it is) is someone did not meet academic standards and was missed by the compliance folks (coach? AD? registrar?) I think they do semesters at GC but I do not know for sure.

Agreed. Seems most likely - given what little we know.

Looks like Ripon, Lawrence, Cornell, Grinnell and Beloit pick up wins - and puts LU in position to make the conference tourney
I would think as long as LU beats Monmouth, they would make the MWC Tournament at 10-8 (at worse,) unless Cornell is able to win three of their last four against Monmouth, Lake Forest, Beloit, and Monmuth as Cornell would have the tiebreaker.

What is the tie breaker?  Cornell and LU split the season series.

Not surprisingly, no room for St. Norbert or Ripon. Their SoS's are just plain bad.

I'm not positive, but my assumption would be that since they split the season series, the next thing would be record against opponents from 1st place on down....  Cornell's victory over Lake Forest would be the deciding factor at this point.  Obviously quite a bit could still change in the final four games though.

Yeah... SOSs are bad and with more losses than we are accustom. That said, if teams ahead of them lose (and many of them do), there is a chance they move in. But it won't be enough to get two teams from the conference in the tournament.

The bottom of the MWC is as bad as I've seen in 12 years paying attention to it.  The top may be better than ever, but that's not going to make up for the SOS hit.

It really hurts the MWC teams playing only 5 nonconference games. Hopefully they'll get to play a full 25-game schedule one of these days. Normally St. Norbert beats those 2nd-tier WIAC teams, but they couldn't even do that this year, losing to Eau Claire and Oshkosh.

Well, UWEC is 5th in the region - I think that may count as top-tier this year... but, yes, the losses hurt.

SNC was the only road team to win last night. Cornell picked up a game on Lawrence for the race for the 4th spot in the tourney

Eau Claire is 4 games back of River Falls and 2 behind Whitewater and they are only 6-5 in conference. They are a 2nd tier WIAC team this year.  ;D

I guess it depends on how many tiers you have!!!  ;) ;D

2 tiers? EC is in the top half of the standings - that's top tier

4 tiers? Well, I guess, they'd be in the second

8 tiers? Well, they are third.

9 tiers? Oh, wait, Superior left...

While I see the point, some conferences have figured this out. The MIAC isn't in as bad a shape with their SOS numbers and at least we can consider a second team making the NCAAs (they have two ranked, after all). No, five out of conference games isn't the best option especially when you can't even play the full 25 games. I have been told that the 25-game schedule is coming and was just delayed one additional year... but I need to go back to those I chatted with prior to confirm. I honestly don't see any reason why they aren't playing 25. Any reason a president comes up with isn't going to make any sens to me. :)
