I'm certainly no expert on the MWC, but to me the "Wow" comes not from the fact it occurred, but that it happened mid-season. I think more often a coach will wait until the end of the season before resigning.

Yeah the wow was definitely for the mid-season thing.

The press release was insanely vague too--which screams out to be that there is some improper activity on his part here somewhere. 


And I'm not so sure he wasn't allowed the privilege of resigning to save face either. 
 
I have no inside knowledge at all...just to clarify.  This is all my speculation.  I could be completely wrong...but it sure seems fishy.

Larry, my dark little mind went into bad places when I caught the news on Twitter. I admit to being confused by the last couple of lines in the release. I have no idea why this would be done by the college or the coach at this time of year. Not a great time to hire, a part-time coach is not going to be able to recruit properly...maybe news will filter out the next few weeks.

At least this time LU isn't trying to raise money for a facility.

Is that serious? Do you really believe the university would release a public statement that they "are better" for him having chosen them and that they'd be in touch and expect him to remain a part of the Viking family if they were dismissing him for some "improper activity on his part somewhere?"  Like yourself I have no clue what went down but given the two public statements I've read from the university it seems unlikely it was related to that.

What I have now heard from campus (third hand and only a theory) is the move is apparently a family time thing. Timing still not great but at least the search can start early. And the timing may, indeed, be a job opportunity outside of basketball.

Good bounce back win for the Fighting Scots in handing the Green Knights their first MWC loss.  Looking for a good race over the next month to get those top 4 spots into the conference tournament!

SNC hasn't lost two conference games in a row since 2011-2012 season and they weren't even back to back games. They lost in mid-December to LFC, played two non conference games and then lost to Carroll to kick off January.
