ccfan69,

I think your comments are really taking away from the effort your team made yesterday. If there was any "playing down" on their part it stopped after the first couple minutes because the game was most decidedly on.............

If Ripon has finally turned the corner you've got another big test coming.

Dolph,

Yes, I know your opinion.....................

However, you can't coach shooting percentage. You either have it or you don't. I don't have an answer as to why Beloits shooting has been so up and down this year. They've been lights out a few times and other times they can't buy one.

Experience is also a factor and it's not always the number of years of experience on the team, it's the amount of experience out on the floor at the time. As great as this years crop is they are still freshmen. You can't expect perfect results when there are 3 of them on the floor at one time, as there have been at many times this year.

Is this a must win year for Beloit, sure it is. For many reasons. Your opinion is likely one of the reasons. Another is recruiting. Gotta have another good year of recruiting or this team takes a big step down next year. It's not exactly like we're graduating a few role players who get playing time when games are out of hand. Were losing about 100 minutes of playing time per game to graduation and 2 of the 3 ball handlers on the squad.

Sorry for not joining your argument but I think Beloit College is now more athletically friendly than it has been in a number years. I'm confident that a proper evaluation process is now in place there.

"hey, their undefeated and rolling through their conference!"

You probably meant "they're", but I'll let it slide...   ;)

Actually, I'm just counting the seconds before Gregory S. gets back onto OUR board and chastises me again... one thousand one, one thousand two...

To guarantee a Greg Sager sighting, I guess I could've said they're undefeated and rolling through their preseason schedule AND their conference opponents... ;D

O.S.  ;D

Don't forget that Lawrence would dominate the CCIW as well, despite LU's academic superiority and tougher admission standards....

(Note: Relax, Gregory.  It's a joke!)
HEY PAL, DON'T BLOCK THE SHOT!

The Roop

That's ok Scottie. I got Mr. Sager pretty good the other day regarding "standards" and he enjoyed it.

Regarding the lack of a Carroll response to my trash talking from the other day. This was directed to Mr. Sager.

Don't fight their fight for them just because they were in the CCIW at one time. You must remember that the IQs of both conferences went down when they came to the MWC.

Sorry Roop but that dog won't hunt.  The reason they have had three freshman on the floor at times is because there are two Juniors (only one of whom was actually recruited) and one Sophmore in the entire fricking program (ok three Juniors but when one has played in 3 games and not scored this year I don't count him).  Regardless of how "friendly" or "non-friendly" the situation might have been for athletic recruiting over the past few year, that is simply unacceptable.

You have a player who is probably one of the top two in the MWC over the past four year and who will go down as one of the best in the history of a school rich in basketball tradition and you find a total of 3 (2) players in the following two years to build around him with?  You make zero appearances in the MWC tournament while he is there?

The coach has now been there for nine seasons and has one top four finish in the MWC.  At what point should improvment be exected.   Where are the players from some of the high school progams that earlier players came from?  Where are the relationships with coaches of top high school programs.

Every year I hear about how things are turning around and every year Beloit is on the outside looking in when the MWC plays their tourney.

The Roop

Dolph,

I can't help you, contact Kim Chandler. Her email is on the schools website and there's a very good chance she will get back to you if you are reasonable about it. If that route doesn't work she's very approachable at games, just go talk to her.

Bottom line. I don't care who the coach is, or if they even have one for that matter. WIN WIN WIN and I will be happy. Lie, steal, cheat, violate NCAA rules to do it makes no difference to me; just WIN. There is however one problem in all that. I have no pull with the NCAA so if they get nailed for violations I can't help them.

If I did have any say about things Beloit would have been a D1 20 years ago. You and I are on the same side but I think it goes without saying that we have philosophical differences about which road to take to get to higher ground. Losing at Beloit will no longer tolerated. That applies to all sports.

Dolph,

we all know your dislike of Coach Youngblood and who you would have picked as Beloits coach 9 yrs ago. the overal  environment at Beloit is not friendly towards athletics. Thats very obvious if you look at all the sports programs. Beloit as a whole is not a very succesfull athletic school. Are all the coaches that struggle at this school bad. When was the last time Beloit had a succesful women's bb team. Footbal as been ave at best. How about baseball. Why is it so hard to understand that the talent pool available to Beloit has been much narrower than any school (except maybe the Sytem school) that the even if the coaches could convince the better talent to come to Beloit it doesnt mean they will get in.

One great player (Hinz) cannot win games by themselves. It takes depth and numbers. LU and CC have both. There have been times when Beloit has to practice with 8. (One of which isn't really even a basketball player (sorry Gordon). Beloit has been very, competitive this year. They had chances to beat the 2 best teams in conference. The coaches put the players in a positon to win both games thru preperation. Its up to the playes to close it out.

Dolph i cannot disagree with you more as to where the whole Beloit athletic troubles lie. I guess with your reasoning, every coach at beloit should be replaced.

d3bbfan-
Very well put. As a GBall fan, I can tell you that Coach Youngblood does a fine job with what he has. He is one class act in my book.

The Roop

The people have spoken and as always "The Roop" has heard their cries. Say it "The Roop" say it they cry. And "The Roop" will................

Dolph, if you want a white coach at Beloit why don't you just come out and say you want a white coach at Beloit. Be a man and say it.

How about if "The Roop" is the new coach at Beloit ?? That won't satisfy Dolph either. You see "The Roop" is native american. Or as "the first people" like to call it. Ojibway. Whitey calls us Chippewa. No offense to Whitey Gilbertson intended. But you see Dolph. Your people weren't born here. How about if you take your opinions and go back to England, or wherever you're proud of being from and stay there.

I think the rest of us will get along fine without you.

Wow.

Wow indeed. "The Roops" connection to the team was not as first realized, however, it is no less strong. To the MWC and NCAA Tournaments they will go. Aided by a bloodline relationship to "The Roop" and the dark side.

Doesn't bother me, Scottie. Try running it past the Illinois Wesleyan people, though. They strike me as a prime audience for your little joke about CCIW domination.  :D

And what's with accusing me of being a spelling Nazi? I rarely correct anyone's spelling, and if I do it's usually in the context of how I did it the other day -- one party (in this case, a MWC person) derides the academic stature of another party (your friendly WIAC neighbors) and misspells words while doing so. To me, that's just begging for a "people in glass houses" comeuppance.

And ... "gets back onto OUR board"? When did Pat hire you to be the bouncer working the ropeline at the MWC Club?  :D
