The Roop, yeah I know they can't but sorry to say it was 87-62, hoopsville now has the right score up too.

I do have to also say that Ripon looked a little better then when I saw them play earlier this year.  Dispite the score they didn't turn the ball over like they were earlier in the season.  They were playing a little more like a team.  I kind of figured they might turn it around a little this year with some time

Way to go, Prairie Fire! Although I am surprised that they allowed Grinnell over 100 — Heimann's teams have held them to less than 100 at Knox the last three years.

I said it earlier this week, Knox is a much better team than most people are giving them credit for being. All 3 of their conference losses were on the road, with two of them to Lawrence and Carroll. Now we'll see if they can keep it going, and not have the meltdown they had last year.\

But I don't think they will.

I just got the stats on the KC-GC game. Maclin lit it up tonight with 38, including 4 of 10 threes, while Grotberg had 34 for GC. Six players in double figures for the Fire as Zick had 19 and Estergard 15. Ziick also pulled down 10 boards. Jesse Temple, who hasn't seen many minutes this year, was 5-for-5 from the field and Moten was 4-6. The Prairie Fire shot 68.3% to 46.2 for Grinnell. GC took 91 shots in the game compared to only 63 for Knox.

I'll bet Maclin and Reineck are tired. They both played 39 minutes against the system!

Now we'll take SNC and get revenge on Beloit at home this weekend after that brutal opening schedule.

Actually, the 2 losses to Lawrence and Carroll were at home in December when the students were on break.  The third loss was at Beloit two weekends ago.

total rip-off

jeffp - What was a total rip-off?  I'm a bit confused, need some type of explanation...

Onto a happier note, the Scots finally break through and pick up their first MWC win of the season and the dream is still mathematically alive! ;D  Also good to see that Price had another solid game for Monmouth tonight--is there any way that we could possibly get him one more season of eligibility??

Go Scots!

the game

BC with a 73-68 victory. Definitely a must win and the Bucs got it. Anyone who was at the game and has seen every game this season:  Why is Hendry so inconsistent after HR all conf last year? Why has cody bysted not played the last 2 games?  Lastly, why is Towns, a 4 year starter, all of a sudden not starting or even playing 20 min/game after starting this season so strong as the team's leading scorer?  Nonetheless nice to see bucs actually win a close game that was tied with 4min in regulation. At 3-5 in MWC they need to at least go 6-2 in final 8 to have a chance at tourney.

Very interesting/shocking stat from the Carroll/RC game.....

F Throw % 1st Half:  3-5  60.0%   2nd Half:  5-13 38.5%   Game: 8-18 44.4%

Not only is it a bad %, but it was so spread out.....McMulllen 1-6, Schmitting 3-4, Bo 0-2, no other starter shot a free throw and only 3 guys off the bench did.  It seems like there are only two guys going towards the rim.....everyone else is always settling for jumpers.
Carroll only had 19 free throws, but only 2 came from the bench players.

Looking at the box score, I imagine his comments will revolve around the last 4 minutes. Looks like Grinnell led almost the entire game.
Threes are better than twos....

I thought JeffP was just writing about the cost of gasoline for that long trip...  I'll have to look at the box score, or wait for JeffP go hook up his new computer - to replace the one he smashed after his last post.

Mav - Technically, isn't Price considered a Junior in terms of athletic eligibility?  He didn't play at all last year because of his "dental situation," so I thought he might have taken a medical red shirt.  Can Schwannie or FS13 (you still alive?) enlighten us?

Anyone from Knox see the game last night? Comments?

after tweaking those who complain about officials here constantly, I can't figure out how to post this one. Give me another 10 hours to compose myself. Then give me a shotgun and 3 addresses and I'll be happy.

dc - there are several
knox posters who, of course, saw a different game thatn i did. Check 'em out; they are earlier in the string

As everyone knows, I am anti-Knox.  But looking at the play-by-play, it looks like they gave Grinnell a taste of their own medicine.  ie. They erased a substantial lead in a fairly short amount of time, a trademark of The System.

I noticed that with 8 seconds left and Knox up by three, they fouled the Grinnell player.  I wonder if this was done on purpose to put him on the line.  Two free throws instead of a three point attempt, and no Nordlund to compete for the rebound.  If it was done on purpose, that was good coaching.  But my hunch, however, was that it was dumb luck on the part of Knox.
