"Dear "Roop":

With all due respect, can Hinz get up and down the court for enough minutes to matter vs. Grinnell?  The Bopper could when LU played them but the guards should lead you in scoring unless you don't have any at Beloit. "

Hinz has ave 35 mins per game vs Grinell in his last 4 games......I think he'll be just fine getting up and down the court against them.

I,m getting sick of all this POY talk.  BC has a chance to get in the tourney.  2 huge road wins and sounds like Cecil  is happy..  I have two big questions.  How many losses can you have to make the tourney this year and where is "the roop" and Jeff P. having coffee before the barnburner on Sat. at BC.  Josh Hinz has the scoring and rebounding totals to beat an former Olympian's record.  Ron Bontemps was awesome in his time.  With  2 wins this weekend BC could be over 500 deep in to the season.  Sounds like Towns is healing up and the ankles are better.    When is the next summer Olympics  and word has it that Kobe might let Josh start in front of him just to get him on the team.  What are the tiebreakers to get in the tourney.  I guess that is more than 2 questions.

The Roop

BC has a good chance to get in the tourney. If they're the #3 you never know what can happen. If they pull the upset and get the automatic bid it will give Hinz at least one more game. Translation, 2000 points is not out of the question considering the tear he's been on of late. 25 a game for 9 games will do it. You know he'll have a big day against Grinnell so it's just a matter of how far they get.

No official word on JeffPs status for this weekend. A month ago he wasn't sure and I'm still waiting on a reply from my last email. "The Roop" would suggest Maxs next to the Ramada in South Beloit however, they feed you well and don't mind you hanging around for a spell.

I think 10-6 guarantees you a spot, any less and you'll be into the tie breaking criteria. Rock, paper, scissors at a neutral site is how that works I'm told.

By the way, i talked to Kim Chandler this morning and she said that she will make sure that the Grinnell oafs dont get off the bus with the team.  Shes got security guards that will keep an eye on it.

The Roop

They're not supposed to be able to cross state lines anyway.

Quote from: Old School on January 30, 2006, 02:16:41 AMI think the Alex is too small to host.  I'm sure there are specifics in the NCAA handbook to find out.

The 2006 D3 tournament handbook says that a site has to accommodate a minimum of 1,000 people in order to host a tournament game. The capacity listed for Alexander Gym on Lawrence's D3hoops.com page is exactly that -- 1,000 seats. I've never been there, so I'll leave it to those of you who have as to whether or not it actually can hold a thousand.

With the new format their is a first week host, which is specified as the highest seed with no capacity limit.  The capacity limit is for sectionals.  If Lawrence gets the bye, they will obviously host one game, but even without a bye, they can still host, even if they aren't exactly at 1,000, at least semantically.

I'm confused. Are these the same BC fans that were screaming for Youngblood's scalp a few weeks back? What a few games will change!  :o

Carroll makes a huge leap from #25 to #23......huh?
Voters showing their vast knowledge of competition yet again

-I love how Hinz is just starting to play D...I suppose he wasn't able his first 3 years due to bad teammates.

-Are we saying Grotberg is the best player in his class...or just best freshman this year?

-I really would not be shocked to see Ripon upset LU tonight...why does this game have to be on the 2nd biggest game of the year??? (UW vs. U of I)

-I'm happy for Beloit fans...but we went from Hinz having no one to them competing for a spot in the conference tourney?  Something doesn't add up.  Hinz has proven he can't carry the whole team to a tourney spot.  So which is it?  Don't count on Beloit being one of the top 4...but you never know.

9-7 will get you in...been saying that!

I agree on the ripon/LU game.  Ripon gave LU a good game at home.  About that time, Ripon lost to Lake Forest at home by about 10.  This past weekend, Ripon handled Lake Forest at their place by around 30.  Ripon is obviously playing much better.  They have beat LU two straight at Ripon.  Should be a great game.

I did notice that GC is the only one of the contenders who doesn't have to play either Lawrence or Carroll or both before the end of the season.  I also noticed they were the only team who only had to play Carroll once.  I know the MWC wants to keep the number of games down.  Wouldn't it make more sense to play a full conference schedule and limit the non-con, like the ASC does?  Man it sure seems like a team can get screwed by the scheduler and that should never happen.

I agree that Ripon is playing much better recently, especially after that fast start slowed down a bit in the middle of the season.  They do get most of their remaining games and almost all of the tough ones, at home.

Grinnell may have the easiest road without Larry or Carroll left, but Ripon's is probably next.  Knox's schedule has to be the toughest with Larry and Carroll on the road, the same weekend.

These teams all seem pretty even right now; it will be interesting to see how it all pans out.

NO....Theres only been one so-called BC "fan" that has been calling for the firing of Coach Youngblood and we haven't heard from him since Beloit has won 3 in a row. We'll probably hear fom him if and when BC loses one again.

Mr. Sager,

Does that include hosting a FOUR TEAM SECTIONAL?  There are bleachers on one of the ends of the court that are removable.  I was there for the Oshkosh game and that was the first time I saw them, though they've apparently been up before.  I'm not sure if that's included in the "1,000" or not.  I would think it is since the gym only has bleachers on one side and then the addition of the removable ones.

"Outside" posters like GS, Ypsi (I think), smed and I have all voiced our displeasure about this!  Several MWCers have also agreed.  I think part of the reason is that they only allow 23 games or so, but yeah, it would only be fair for every team to play everyone twice...the MIAC has 11 teams and they play a full double round robin!  And there was talk about possible expansion.
