It's simple — if Knox beats IC and MC, then Beloit has to go at least 4-2 to get in. I don't think Ripon has a prayer of catching the Fire at this point, and Beloit has a tough road. That win at Knox definitely helped the Bucs chances though.
Knox will have a tough time trying to win at either LU or CC, but can they beat GC at Darby? Doubtful, but possible. They should definitely beat IC at home, and they haven't lost to MC at home in at least three years, although the Scots will be out for blood next week.

All-in-all, it's LU, CC, GC, and KC in the playoffs this year.

Knox closes 2-3 (losing to Larry, Carroll, and Grinnell) for a record of 9-7 - gets in with the tie-breaker over Ripon.

Don't count out the Fighting Spoilers next Wednesday night.

Now that Beloit has been written off (or writtenov  :D I kill me) does anybody mind if I still go to the games this weekend ??? I've got a half day scheduled tomorrow so I make it in time, but can still cancel if it bothers anyone that I want to watch a team that is out of contention.

I agree that the tough win over Knox @Knox did help them but I'm still tying to figure out how the easy win over Knox @Beloit has gone unnoticed.

You can go to the games Roop, but you might as well burn the building down on your way out; apparently they won't need it anymore.

Lots of new links are up at MWC Hoops, including some to the Official Coffee House of MWC Hoops, Saints Rest.  Also a concise rundown of this weekend's games.  If anyone knows where I could find game previews of any game besides LU's (hats off to LU SID Joe Vanden Acker for his hard work) I'd like to link to them.  In the future I might try to say more about each game, but I didn't really have time tonight.  Also, still looking for more media links.

Does it strike anyone else as odd that multiple posters are functionally literate in Russian?

What's more amazing is that one of us actually DIDN'T attend an institution in an academic elitist conference. :)

Pat Cummings did, however, Dickinson in the Centennial.

Pat,

Pimsleurs Russian 1 must be considered elitist given the price I paid for it at Barnes and Noble.

Best of luck to GC today in its matchup with Ripon. And....no injuries, guys!!
Threes are better than twos....

Thanks for the mid-week notes, MWCSID... Couple of items gleaned from that:

If LU men and women both win the conference, both tourneys will be in Appleton - should be an exciting weekend in the shadows of the paper mill...

They also have the tie-breaker scenarios, which I unfortunately don't have the time or inclination to research right now - anyone want to take a crack at it? Although, much of that could change this weekend!

Knox has a tough weekend - a visit to LU and Carroll - not my idea of a fun weekend! But, if they can upset one of them (please be Carroll!), they are in good shape for a berth in the tourney. Also, if Grinnell can upend Ripon tonight, Knox will be in better shape too.

I know it's early, but working on the assumption that Lawrence makes it into the national tourney (barring a monumental collapse down the stretch) - how far will they go?

Interesting. Ensign Chekhov, of course, informed me that haiku was actually Russian inwention and that I was using proper format.

Pat, I know you know all and what you don't know Greg does, but you amaze me with this reference to former Grinnell Student Walter Koenig--Star Trek's Chekhov.  Nice tie in.

Call me old fashoned, but I'm hoping for tradition to be kept alive tonight....RC vs. GC.

Knox has to go away to LU and CC.....Ripon has a double home weekend.  Obviously no game is a gimmie at this point, especially in this conference, but I'm hoping for RC to jump even or ahead of Knox.
(I haven't done any figuring....just going off other info)
