Wow. Great win for the Pioneers. Grotberg appears to have had a great game.

That other MWC final from tonight was St. Norbert over Illinois C., 65-47 (found it on the SNC website).

scottie - I suppose 7-9 could possibly get a team the #4 seed into the playoffs at this point, but Knox seems to be in the driver's seat for that 4th spot (hurts to admit that) by already having 7 MWC wins along with tonight's losses by both Ripon and Beloit when they each had a chance to pull closer to the Fire since they lost to Lawrence.  The Scots may have spoiled Beloit's chances a bit tonight but at the same time, and as bad as it sounds, they actually might have helped out Knox by beating a team that is right behind them in the standings.

Go Scots!

scottie

SNC 65 - IC 47.

Mav, part of the rationale to my 7-9 prediction is that Knox may lay an egg the rest of the way and back into the playoffs.   Of course, this also means that the Scots are still mathematically alive.   :D

Sacriligious though Scottie's quote may be, I appreciate the vote of confidence.  That said, as a loyal D3Hoophead, I would never seek to usurp Pat...I just want to focus a little more light on the MWC is all.  :) We'll see what kind of review my blog gets when my best friend shows up in Madtown tomorrow.  She's diehard D-I/Big Ten...she visited LU when I was a senior...its the MWC tourney (finals in fact), Alex is rocking, we're stacked 3 deep on the floor, its as loud as I've heard LU...yet no props.  On the plus side, she hates the Badgers even more than i do.   ;D

Random note, anyone who needs a new cell phone should check out the Motorola SLVR...its the new version of the RAZR that also has iTunes...its really sweet.  Definately an impulse buy I can live with.  ;)

I believe this is the first win for Grinnell in (RIP)on ( ;D) in the modern era. Certainly the first win there for Arseneault...which essentially means the first win since...well...can someone help out here? '76? '65? '62? '60?

Anyway, a pretty nice win, all in all.

BTW Grotberg played 22 minutes, scored 45 points on 9-19 3pt shooting (47%) and 14-17 ft shooting. Pretty nice line, all in all.

With the bucs loss last night, I think Grinnell is in a 'win and you're in' game today. If they could pull out a win against BC this afternoon, they would be three games up on the field with three games to go.

Here's hoping they have something left in their tank after last night's performance.

The Roop

Here's hoping they don't and I think the last time they won in Ripon peach baskets were still being used.

Congrats to GC on its win against RC! It was good to see that Brock Martinez was back in the game. And Grotberg - 45 in 21 min? So that's 2.14285 points per minute?   ;D

Apparently she wasn't impressed by the 1,300 fans there and all those bleachers on ONE SIDE of the Alex.  Being she's a diehard D-I/Big Ten fan, she might have seen bigger and more "rocking" crowds than the 150 fans in your "student" section!  ;D

Glad you know you live in hell, a Badger hater in Madison!

"The Roop" - A few observations from the MC/BC box score & play by play...

Monmouth never trailed in the second half (with one tie early on).

BC missed 10 FT's, but made as many as MC attempted.  BC 9-19, MC 4-9

Up by two, MC missed a free throw with 3 seconds left.  Hinz rebounded, but there was no shot attempted.  Is this true?  They didn't even get a shot off in 3 seconds?

Good luck to the mathematically-alive Fighting Scots today!
