the game

Hate that I was right but this is the monmouth game is the typeof game BC never seems to win. Maybe they were overlooking MC because GC is coming in today. A loss today and things are OVER. Anyone who saw the game- how did the guys look? Hendry has been struggling a bit of late. Towns wasn't too hot last night and even Hinz was 6-15. Was the MC defense that good last night?
In actuallity it doesn'tmatter how good they played. A team in the playoff hunt should not loose  AT HOME  to a team who's season is over.

You're partially right, Mr. Game...  Beloit was probably too loose, which caused them to lose.  And, Monmouth's season isn't over yet...mathematically speaking.  Riptown madness might have something to say about that, however.
HEY PAL, DON'T BLOCK THE SHOT!

The Roop

Scottie,

I'm not sure if Beloit was out of time outs or not. Hinz got the rebound and had to take it up court himself because everybody was covered. He did launch a desperation 3 that was fairly close. However the official on the far side was waving the shot off as he didn't beat the clock.

the game,

Monmouth did play reasonably well on defense last night I thought. Not spectaclur by any means but they, like many teams have learned recently, shut down the base line penetration and you will shut down Beloit. I disagree with you one one thing though, this is the kind of game that Beloit has figured out how to win recently. Lake Forest and Knox could have gone either way and they won both. They just don't seem to have the same magic at home this year as they are only 2-3 in conference play at The Flood.

Three point shooting MUST improve if they are going to steal (at this point) the 4th spot in the tournament. One on one they've got enough talent to score inside againt anybody. However, when the outside shots aren't falling defenses just concede the jumper and double the middle. Hinz abused Price a couple times before the double teams started but didn't do much after that.

scottie - I know, and hope, that Knox lays an egg down the stretch (and with their tough remaining schedule, it is possible).  And good luck to the mathematically still alive Fighting Scots this afternoon! ;D

Old School - The first place I always look for scores is the MWC website.  So when it wasn't there, I just clicked on the SNC link to look there since that was the closest place at that time.  That's how I saved myself some time last night. :)

Sam Johnson - I gotta say, I'm already a fan of your site also.  Looks great!

Go Scots!

First off I wanted to apologize for the unruley cc fan that got kicked out of the game last nite against LF. The pioneers just beat knox 103-55, wait i thought knox was a tournmant team? Talk about layin an egg...geez! Next up for the Pioneers is Ripon a week from today, cc needs to take care of business and not look ahead. Lets go Pioneers!

P.S. Where's falco?

The Roop

BC 120 GC 112

Hinz played 88 minutes, 79 points, 53 rebounds, 25 blocks and 14 steals. I might be a bit off but that's sure what it seemed like watching him today. To say Grinnell misses Nordlunds rebounding is a huge understatement. Beloit handled the pressure much better than in the first meeting. While there's no such thing as a good turnover I don't think they had any real stupid ones today. They got the ball out quick and kept to the middle of the floor as much as possible. Sorry Jeff but I must say it. That's how you beat "The System".

As per MWC rules the oafs were just that. Only real good call they made was an intentional foul call. Glad to see they still do that. Not sure which Coach A was more upset about, the intentional foul being called, or the fact that they just didn't let Hendry score uncontested. Give up the 2 to go get a 3, etc.

Grinnell certainly hit the threes but they were cold when it mattered most. They quickly erased a 10 point Beloit lead but couldn't answer when Beloit came right back with another double digit lead. This was definitely a game you didn't want to see end, great efforts on both sides. But since it had to end, I'm glad the good guys had the lead as time expired.

Another tough loss for the Scots.  Looks like it was a very close game.  Early, MWC4life, can you embellish?

Knox lays another egg in Waukesha.  Yikes!

GC did miss Nordland tonight....not sure why Ripon did have more success last night with him in there.

Hinz was THE MAN tonight. 50 pts and 36 boards(new BC record) in 40 mins. Any ball that came anywher near hes not to be denied. I still think that Hinz has to be a consideration for POY.  Both Hinz and the frosh pt grd Dowden played every min of the game. The freshman only had 2 TO's. Hendry, Towns Skelton and Fiek all played well to.

Now if BC had just shot FT's last night like they did tonight they would have had 2 wins this weekend.

Good way to come back after a disapointing loss last night...now keep it going Bucs.

Hey Roop - how did our big man Chamberlain do tonight? Just curious....
Threes are better than twos....

I was going to save this for my Monday Morning Ramblings, but after looking at some box scores, I couldn't resist...

Where's the D?  The Ripon/Monmouth game featured 8 players (3 MC, 5 RC) in double figures.  All three Monmouth efforts were noteworthy:  Price with 19 and 11 rebs, and both Beaird AND Hebeler connect for eight three-pointers each!  Unfortunately, the Scots were one 3 short of yet another OT.

Found the D!  It was in Waukesha.  None of Knox's starters scored more than 6 points, and Maclin only had 3 points (with only three shot attempts!).  My only guess is that the entire Knox team had food poisoning.

If the efforts of today's game are any indication of what we'll see Tuesday night at the T. Fleming Warehouse, the Scots will roll and the Fire will be one game closer to sliding out of the #4 spot.

Speaking of the #4 spot, the Ripon/Beloit game might be for a trip to Bopperville.

Not sure how well that will post.

Maybe a little tentative at times on offense but he made his presense known on defense. He certainly made Hinz change a few of his shots. Not that it mattered because we had adjustable rims today and they widened when Josh had the ball.

Good golly, Miss Molly!!

50 points, 36 rebounds??? :o

It's only one game, but maybe the POY should not have been engraved with Braier's name quite yet, afterall!

The Roop

And the Braier-Hinz rematch takes place Wednesday.

the game

Great win for BC. When executed, youngblood's plan against GC works to perfection. Hinz is by far a great player. DID ANYONE SEE HINZ'S STAT LINE ON ESPN'S BOTTON LINE.  IT WAS THERE. THE PERFORMANCE WAS THAT GREAT 50 & 36.  If BC made the tourney he should get consideration for POY though Braier has it locked up. WEDNESDAY'S GAME IS BEYOND BIG. If BC looses they have to run the table to get to 9-7. Hinz will be ready to play aginst his rival Braier on wednesday night. It seems those 2 have been in the for a decade. Both have started and starred since their freshman years. Hendry and the guards must play well to allow Hinz fnish things in crunch time. This has great game written all over it. LU still has to play for home court in the  tourney.

When it's all said and done, things may come down to a tie breaker. BC did defeat Knox in it's only meeting on JAN 28th. DOES ANYBODY HAVE THE TIEBREAKER BREAKDOWN BETWEEN BC KNOX AND RIPON?  SHOULD BE FUN.

A little shout-out to Hinz on College Gamenight about his 50 & 36
