I do not have 1981 regional third-place game box scores. :)

But here's the record:

REBOUNDS
Game

36—Mark Veenstra, Calvin vs. Colorado St.-Pueblo.,
Feb. 3, 1976; Clinton Montford, Methodist vs.
Warren Wilson, Jan. 21, 1989

Pat, is Mark the father of Jeremy, the star on the 2000 National Champion Calvin team? :)

The Roop

1 and 0, but I had it the other way. 22 seconds from $1500 in the 1st quarter as I had 0 and 0. For entertainment purposes only of course.

Greek Tragedy

I know it's Sunday, but did anyone remind Knox that they had two games this weekend?  From the scores, it looked like they forgot to show up.  Ouch.  ;)

I don't know if you guys heard or not, but Hinz had 50 and 36 against GC this weekend?  Did anyone mention that yet?

Assuming GC finishes out the season as expected (3 wins), we'll see a nice reversal of last year's record, from 5-11 to 11-5.  Let's make it happen, Pioneers!

i know this is a few days late, but someone mentioned that Hinz "abused" Price in the paint.  Price had 12pts. and 7 boards in 20 mins.  Hinz had 16 and 8 in 34 mins.  Abused might have been a little bit of an exaggeration......

Hinz did ABUSE the pioneers though.  50 and 36 is amazing.  in the pick em i predicted Hinz would "go kobe on them" i didnt realize he was going to "go wilt on them" instead.  Its like playing with shaq in NBA Live (playstation for you over the hill crew).

Here's to MC spoiling a few seasons....

Good one!   :D
HEY PAL, DON'T BLOCK THE SHOT!

You know...50 and 36 is quite amazing.  With Grinnell shooting 3's from all over the gym, there should have been a LOT of long rebounds.  And, how did Hinz get down the floor so quickly to finish on the break so often if he was camping out under the glass?  Both of those numbers together should be physically impossible.

Oh yeah, and to whoever is chipping away my Karma points - I WILL find you.   :P

I said he abused him a couple times, kinda like watching one of the Washington Generals go for the Globetrotters ball fakes, but it certainly wasn't all game long.

A lot of great scenerios are possible for the last 3/4 games....

Here's the schedule first: (remember I am a BC fan picking these outcomes)

GC(8-5):  2/11 @ IC....WIN
              2/15 KC....WIN
              2/18 @ LFC....WIN
Should wrap up #3 spot at 11-5

KC(7-6):  2/8 MC...LOSS (need the road upset, but they are playing better now)
              2/15 @ GC...LOSS
              2/18 IC...WIN
Ending up at a possible tie at 8-8

BC(6-6):  2/8 @ LU...WIN (if they don't win this one they NEED to beat CC)
              2/11 @ SNC...WIN
              2/15 RC...WIN (in a HUGE game)
2/18 CC..They can afford to lose if they beat LU, otherwise must win
Ending up at 9-7 and the #4 spot.  If LU and CC are both losses, 8-8 tie with KC, but the tiebreaker over them I belive.

RC(6-7):  2/8 @ SNC...WIN
              2/11 CC...LOSS (hopefully)
              2/15 @ BC...LOSS (again, hopefully)
 Out of contention at 7-9

It looks to me that the ball in in BC's court (I know, terrible play on words).  But if they do their thing they get in.

jeffdc

T-bird Teacher,

I don't see CC or LU being beat by any team other than themselves. From a GC perspective, it'd be great if BC beat them both! But I just don't see it happening...

Honestly, I think Ripon is more likely to beat one of the big boys than Beloit is.

I think GC can hope for at least a 10-6 record which should be at worst a tie for 3rd and a spot.

It seems to me that a three way tie ar 8-8 for one spot is about the most likely scenario, as wierd as that sounds.

Some on post last week that they didnt think Hinz could get4 up and down the court vs. GC's style of play for a whole game...hmmmm...I think this game proved that theory wrong....40 mins....playing both ends..including def (note 3 blocks on Grotberg).....  and stll had legs at the end to make FT's when they mattered. I think Hinz should by now has proven himself to the skeptics....He IS the best all around player in the league.
