LU 05

What has happened over at Lake Forest?  Many in the LU community felt like they would be a major contender this year.  The talent is there, and it has been there for three years now.  They also had a favorable schedule playing in the South.

The Roop

And with a Hoopsville interview comes the Hoopsville Curse which I hinted at a few days ago. Beloit 78, Lawrence 69.

So what will happen to Beloit and Hinz with Hinz being interviewed on ESPN? That's gotta be a bigger curse than the Hoopsville curse. I'm guessing a stat-line of -50 points and -36 rebounds for Hinz.

The Roop

Not sure how you can have -points and -rebounds as my Abacus and Mayan Calendar have disappeared recently. So I will defer to Systemfan86 for the answer. "System Math" should be able to provide an answer.

I am a math major, actually. I was operating on the fact that ESPN > Hoopsville. Granted, I am not a basketball major, but I am guessing Hinz will at least get real sweaty. Not Bo Johnson I-can-see-through-your-jersey sweaty, but pretty sweaty.

scottie

Scottie's off to the mother-land that is western Illinois.  Can't wait to watch the Fire get doused tomorrow.   Go Scots!
HEY PAL, DON'T BLOCK THE SHOT!

The Roop

So noted. Can't say that I've ever heard of an ESPN Curse though. The Hoopsville Curse, on the other hand, is widely known and has claimed numberous victims over the years. Could be an internet thing, you know, how Judgement Day starts; etc.

Have a nice trip Scottie and it wasn't me knocking down your karma, I actually gave you one when I read your concerns.

Amazingly, no one has brought up the fact that Chris McGillis has shut down the following big stat boys this year:

Andy Janke--Oshkosh
Bo Johnson--Ripon
Bo Johnson--Ripon
etc
etc

He couldn't stop Grotberg but he'll be in the NBA next year so what do you expect.

Hinz will get shut down vs. LU or he will get a bunch and everyone else will get shut down, e.g. the Micheal Jordan effect--the more he scores the more likely that Beloit loses.  Braier will make his defensive skills look weak and likely match him on the boards. Braier doesn't play for stats, he just plays to win.  Braier eats cold pizza.
While Hinz is cooing to that Kit chick, Braier will be in the classroom and the weightroom.

I don't want to look ahead to Carroll before Beloit is put away.  But all this Hinz is God stuff is geting a little out there.  After all, it was against Grinnell who never plays defense beyond the half court line.

Now that I have alienated both Beloit and GC, the Carroll fans should recognize that I gave them some love and therfore am worthy of their karma.  I will save my Carroll "material" until next week.

Unlike Admiral Nelson, I am a basketball major, and today we had a seminar called "Chris McGillis graduated two years ago. His brother's name is Kyle"

It was a good seminar.

None of which has been this season. You should compare the list of coaches interviewed to their success post-broadcast.

In fact, could be argued that Hoopsville pulled IWU out of its doldrums. :)

The Roop

Wow............................... Pat is quoting "The Roop". Modify the Hoopsville Curse all you like but it is real. It all comes down to point of view. Perhaps it will doom Lawrence tomorrow, perhaps it will propel Beloit (as expected) to greater heights. One thing is certain citizens. Mr. Franklin arrived today via a SuperBowl Pool. Therefore, "The Roop" will be in the house tomorrow.

I'm already warming up my voice for Appleton. Turn out the lights.......... the party's over.............. they say all, good things must end............

Don't worry, getting a Pool C with 2 losses isn't that bad. It just means you'll have to play in Beloit again when the NCAA seeds the tournament.

Hinz on Cold Pizza. WOW!  As another person stated. No one cares about d3 bball.  Every opposing big man aginst GC goes for atleast 35. Of course Hinz's performance was outstanding, but Cold Pizza is obviously short of material.

Having joked about the Hoopsville curse last year, if this is true, THANK YOU! ;D

Barring a meltdown of historic proportions, Augie is uncatchable for the regular-season crown, but I haven't thrown in the towel on EITHER post-season tournament!  [The regular-season crown and ONE of the tourneys are obviously not relevant to this board (my apologies), but just a warning to Larry and Carroll for the OTHER tourney!]

And, yes, I do think that Carroll is a near lock (and Larry totally a lock).
