The Roop

Must be one of those great minds think alike kind of things then. I did the LU, CC in the NCAA speech already.

Mr. Ypsi

The,

(I'm MUCH too old to abide formalities - if I were forty years younger, I'd address you as "The Roop", but you'll have to put up with a first name basis!)

I don't think I said anything that any nationwide, conscious of d3 regs, poster wouldn't have said.  By the criteria, Lawrence is a lock (barring a total meltdown) and Carroll is ALMOST the same.

IF GC, Beloit, Ripon, whoever, pulls off the AQ, you really might have 3 teams in (or Carroll might get screwed)!  But if things go REASONABLY as expected, I'd say you still have 2 teams in.

The Roop

Wouldn't it be much easier to just say "The Roop" that to write a novella as to why you can't ???

The,

Sure, but why give you the cheap thrill?!

On the other hand, I AM into good manners, which includes addressing people as they wish to be addressed (often derided these days as 'political correctness', but usually it is just good manners).  Good evening, "The Roop".

Of course, from now on, it had better be MISTER YPSI! ;D

I think you'll see IWU over Carroll, maybe even Transy, but the rest looks solid, and by no means do I think my ideas are any better than yours, just different.

1. Augustana 18-0, 11.765
2. Lawrence 17-0, 11.600
3. Transylvania 17-3, 10.421
4. Carroll 16-2, 10.000
5. Ill. Wesleyan 12-3, 10.786

The reason I have Transy and Carroll ahead of Ill. Wes. is because of their superior in-region winning %.

Transy:  85%
Carroll:  88.89%
Ill. Wes.:  80%

It's basically a toss up, I guess, because IWU's QOWI is 0.7+ more than Carroll's and though Carroll's winning % is superior to Transy's, the latter has a solid 0.4+ QOWI lead.  So it goes.  I mean, nearly 89% is a big difference compared to just 80%...as is 10.786 to 10.000!  ??? ::)

That works too.  After all, my name is C. A. Bonney (aka, Mr. Ypsi).

But since we are dealing with proper manners, unless you are over 40 or so (though nearly all my kids' friends call me Chuck), you may call me MISTER Ypsi, Mr. Bonney, or what the hey, Chuck.  As long as I have the right to call you by YOUR first name - so, hope you're havin' a great night, The. ;D

I like your reasoning, OS, but you forgot that there are three other criteria besides QOWI and in-region winning %. One of them is in-region common opponents. Fortunately for your predicted MWR rankings, it works out in your favor in both cases regarding Illinois Wesleyan.

* Illinois Wesleyan is 2-0 against Carthage while Carroll is 1-0 against Carthage, giving the Titans the advantage over the Pioneers; but Carroll is 2-0 against Illinois C. while Illinois Wesleyan is 1-0 against Illinois C., evening up the situation.

* Transylvania and Carroll have no common opponents this season, so the criterion doesn't apply.

* Illinois Wesleyan and Transylvania have one common in-region opponent: Hanover. Tonight Transylvania plays Hanover for the second time, this time on the home floor of the Vampires down in Lexington, KY. Transy beat Hanover @ Hanover in the HCAC's first round-robin, and Illinois Wesleyan defeated Hanover back in December. In other words, tonight's game in Lexington will break the tie in the common-opponent criterion between Transy and Illinois Wesleyan.

I thought QOWIboard was the word Bart Simpson used to beat Homer in Scrabble. I think the definition was something like "a balding lowland gorilla".

9:45 AM correction. Gotta love Google...The word was Kwyjibo. Definition: a big, dumb, balding North American ape.  With no chin.
And it was worth 152 points.

I'm not sure if this got posted last night, but in the latest QOWI numbers there are only 6 pool C teams ahead of Carroll.  Two from the NESCAC and one from the NCAC, ASC, WIAC, and CCIW.  Things just keep looking up.

The word was Kwyjibo.

We had Kwyjibo as our Trivia Team Name about 10 years ago in the annual Stevens Point trivia contest held by the student radio station, dubbed the world's largest trivia contest.  It's been going on annually for the past 30+ years.

And since we are in the MWC board, it puts that Larry U trivia contest to shame! lol.  ;)

In an earlier post, I said there was the QOWI and the in-region records, among other criteria.  I couldn't remember them off hand since they've actually changed/added criteria.

Also, when I first posted my "predictions," I based those on strictly the QOWI and the in-region records.  ;)
