The Roop

Thanks to Nut for the directions, unfortunately I had to leave before I got them. LOL. Luckily I was in town early enough to drive around until I saw Beloits bus and followed it. Alex isn't exactly on the main campus is it.

It was my first time seeing Lawrence with Tharp as their coach, after the first half I was wondering what all the hype was about. Good yes, unbeatable no. That quickly changed in the second half as they went on a run that pretty much took care of the game 5 minutes in. Anybody on the team not make a 3 tonight ??, I thought I was watching Grinnell there for a while. Haven't checked the stats yet but I'll bet they had to shoot around 65% from 3 point range. That's hard to compete against.

Re:  Trivia

Keep it in your pants you guys.  I was just talking a little #$%!.  I honestly don't know much about the Lawrence trivia contest apart from the fact they did start prior to the Stevens Point contest.  From what I've heard, Point does have the largest trivia contest in the world...or so they claim.

Because I'm always willing to expand my knowledge, is there a website for the trivia contest hosted by Larry U?  How long does it go for?  What's the format?  etc.  I know this is a basketball page, but if we can talk Russian and speak Haikus, we can talk a little trivia!  :D

the game

Big loss for Ripon tonight. BC and Knox r breathing easier. Looks like things will not be decided until the last day. BC 6-7, knox 8-6, ripon 6-8. Knox still has to deal with grinell. They should finish at 9-7. The enigma that is BC has SNC, Carroll, and ripon. AT SNC sounded like a lock two weeks ago, but the green knights have won 3 straight even if they were against bottom feeders. This has bad loss written all over it for BC. Youngblood must get the guys up for the SNC game after taking a pounding at LU. BC will probably loose 2 of 3 and finish 8-8. On the positive side, if they run the table, they're in the tourney because of the tie breaker over knox. They can beat SNC and ripon. The key game is carroll because the pioneers will still be trying to catch LU.  Ripon's loss tonight will keep them out of tourney. LU, Carroll, GC and KC likely in the tourney.  DOES ANYONE DIFFER????????

Thanks.  Here's the link to The Stevens Point Trivia Contest if you care.

Mind you, I was just talking a little trash before.  I don't mean to argue over which is better.  Quite frankly, I don't really care.  But if you want to take a look at Point's contest to compare, feel free.  Point is on it's 37th year and we run from 6 pm on Friday to midnight on Sunday...54 hours of basically 8 questions an hour.  We also have "stone clues" (kind of like a scavenger hunt), music questions (music snipets) and also a Trivia Times with pictures where you're supposed to figure out who is in the pictures, among other things.  I'm sure both contests are well run and are a lot of fun.

KNOX/MONMOUTH GAME
As someone who gets to a couple games in the Galesburg area, I found the Knox Monmouth game last night to be an exciting game to watch. I thought that it was a hard fought game by two teams who really didn't start off shooting very well. Both teams had opportunitites to win the ballgame, and I believe it was tied with 1:30 or so to play. It was a great atmosphere.., too bad that isn't the type of atmosphere that can be in every gym everynight..,. and the stripes really did a nice job, one of the better I've seen in quite some time. I think that Monmouth has improved, and Knox seems to do just enough to get by. It will be interesting to see how these teams finish out here in the next couple of weeks.

Did anyone else notice that IC scored 14 points in the first half last night?

14!?!

They were 6 of 31 from the field with 2 FTs. After the first 10 minutes of the game, LF had a 21-2 lead. There was only 2:38 left in the half when they reach double digits.

Good thing the QOWI index only looks at the team's record. That's brutal.

in even better news for the Vikings, Augie lost tonight to Wheaton. If LU can go undefeated the rest of the way, they will be guaranteed the number one seed in the Midwest, and hopefully the right to a first round bye and a home game.  Even with a loss to Carroll at some point, they should still be near the top, and Augie still will have the CCIW tournament too...looking good for my Vikes!!!

Well its no fun anymore.  GC-Knox is going to be for third place and honestly, I think GC would rather play Lawrence than Carroll right now.  This could have been a fun stretch run to watch, now we just have to see if Larry can run the table.

I think someone posted the tie breakers earlier, but I'm not sure I want to take the time to find the post. If Grinnell wins in Jacksonville on Saturday, are they assured of a berth in the tournament? The question really is, does Grinnell own the tie breaker over Beloit?

If Grinnell picks up 1 more win, they do no worse than 9-7. Ripon can't catch them, and Beloit has to win out to get to 9-7. If that happens, who wins the tie breaker?

If it is based on points scored, GC does.

How does the MWC not have that posted somewhere on their website?  Maybe they do need an independant commissioner to make sure things run decently.  For a conference with this quality of basketball being played, they sure act quite bush league.

Early

Well Ripon just wrote off the conference tourny.  Laying a gigantic egg at Nubs.  Shot a whopping 7% from 3-pt. land 1-13......WOW!

Nubs had a complete team night.....scored 73 with their high scorer had 13.  4 guys in double figures and every other guy that played scored.  Disapointing loss.

Ripon's only chance this weekend is to get the ball into Schmitting's hands

Otherwise it is gonna be a long game
