I actually heard about one from Jeff (you can check the GC roster and figure it out), and the other one, honestly I can't remember who it was.  I know I just learned it in passing and didn't think about it until this recent discussion.  Sorry, that's probably going to bug me for quite a while.

Maverick,

We made the conference tourney in 00-01 I was soph.  H.Grant was jr. and POY that year...we lost to Grinnel in our first game...

Robertsons' hops were pedestrian by my standards, dude did have some issues, he was a bit high strung as I remember.

M.Flowers - I stand corrected. :-[  When I was looking back at the past standings yesterday, all I did was check the top 4 teams in the standings and go off of that.  Checking it more closely now, I see that in 2000-01 there were 3 teams tied at 9-7 for the 4th spot and Ripon was the first team listed in the standings with a 9-7 record so I just went with that.  Guess I didn't double-check well enough!  My bad...

So I believe that also means that Monmouth now has the longest MWC Tournament drought in the conference. >:(

Midwest Conference Men's Basketball Tournament Scenarios are posted. A small claification on the press release posted on D3hoops.com...

HOSTING RIGHTS
A Lawrence (14-0 MWC) victory on Wednesday secures the MWC Championship and tourney hosting duties for the Vikings. If Carroll (13-1) beats Lawrence and both teams are victorious on the final day of the regular-season (Saturday, Feb. 18), then the teams will be named MWC Co-Champions. All of the possible tiebreakers would also be cancelled out and hosting duties would be decided by a coin flip. If Carroll wins Wednesday and both teams lose Saturday, Lawrence will host the tourney.

So with Braier, and J.Hinz about to graduate who's got next in the MWC, they both have been dominant players over the past four years, so will fill those shoes...as the "Man/Men" in the MWC

I don't get a chance to actually watch teams play, but I do check boxes for what little insight that is worth, so I'm thorwing this out to you all...

What players are going to be the dominant returning players in MWC, and how will these guys stack up/ in comparison to a Braier or Hinz in regards to their level of impact?

On another note congrats to Hinz on a becoming arguably the greatest hooper ever at BC...

LU is a team concept.  The chamber isn't full, but there isn't alot of room left.  We'll miss the Bopper but we shall survive and I predict thrive.

BTW, rumour is that Bo Johnson is transferring to LU if he can get through admissions.   Coach heard he cannot dunk, something Tharp respects  ;D

Yes, you have to be the board "owner" to start a poll in the board. However, you can start a poll in a separate topic and if I approve then I will merge it into the board. (Other veteran users have the power to merge boards as well.)

However, with the stellar results of the last poll that was suggested (see top) I would say we're not off to a good start on this board. :)

It was a dumb poll in the first place.  ;)  At least on the CCIW board, their poll has more than two answers and a "provisional" answer!  Plus, how can you "guess" that if you don't even know who the matchups are yet.  Carroll could have an easier road than Lawrence if they get thrown into a region with the LMC champ, MIAC, NWC etc while Lawrence could get sent to the IIAC, CCIW, MIAA etc.

Just heard this from a credible source close to the Lawrence basketball team:

Lawrence isn't even game-planning for Carroll. They might not play Braier, Tharp isn't even coming to the game. Not only are they totally looking ahead to St. Norbert next week, they actually don't care if they beat Carroll or not.

As good as Braier is, not many people know he is leading the league in another stat other than rebounds. While his freethrow percentage is barely above 50%, he is at an unbelievable 94% accuracy when calling coin-flips, at one point this season calling an amzing 1,056 right in a row.

So Carroll, bring it on. You probably are even favored at your own gym. But I heard Drury, who is shooting a healthy 40% from three, barely gets 20% of his coin-flips right. And that's on a good day.

Any dream experts out there ???

Why was Margaret Thatcher at a private beach in Wisconsin studying Lake Superior sharks and how do I know Dick Van Patten to get a free guest pass to go there.

Best of luck to the real Pioneers in tonight's GC/KC game. KC will go home empty-handed and GC will get a little home court revenge.

That's my prediction, anyway.  ;D

Yabeccha, dc!

Absolutely NOTHING against Knox players here, but this team wants this V as much as any in the past few months. Win or lose, I wouldn't want to play GC tonight. My guess is that the student fan base(ball team) has been filled in on what happened at Knox a few weeks ago - go Tiny! - and will be in tip top form. Wait til you walk past that tonight, KC! ;D

systemfan86

Given no particular loyalty to either team, I can't decide who I'm pulling for in tonight's LU @ CC game.

The random nature of a coin flip to determine who hosts the tournament appeals to my warped sense of humor. Advantage Carroll.

The potential of having the top ranked team in the D3Hoops poll - presuming a loss by the current #1 - from the MWC is good pub for the conference. Advantage Larry.

Having to listen to Mr Wallace after a big win by Carroll...Advantage Larry.

Having to listen to those Larry fans who channel UK fans on their way to a potentially  undefeated season...Advantage Carroll.

There are probably lots more. Anyone from either side want to give me a reason to be happy their side won? Remember, ultimately I want one or the other team to lose to GC in the tournament, so don't try to impress me with what makes your team wonderful; I ain't going to necessarily cheer FOR either team. I'm just looking for a reason to be happy about either outcome.

Let the mud slinging begin... ;D

It depends on who I would rather listen to....Mr. Wallace and carroll fans, or T2K, vikes, and Larry fans.  I actually would rather listen to Larry fans.....wow!  That is a sad day when I Ripon fan would rather listen to Larry's than Carroll.  That must say something about Carroll fans there.
