"As for the Braier- Hinz debate. What does Braier do if he's with BC the past four years and Hinz is with LU. Hinz would win a couple conference titles and Braier struggles as badly as Hinz to get BC to tourney."

If Braier didn't go to Lawrence, he would probably be leading Stevens Point to a third stright title, not struggling at Beloit.

I've just been hired to work at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin.  Does anyone know if they have an intercollegiate sports program?  I like to watch basketball - do they have a team there?

Thanks for your help!

This was my favorite line by far:

Welcome. Welcome to the NCAA.

That was a great, great line by Braier.  Had me laughing when I read it.

Amen. I've always vowed that if I ever won, earned, recieved a ridiculously large sum of $$$ that one of the first things I would do is contact the University so that I could help improve our often less than stellar athletic facilities. A new weight room would be priority #1. ;D

The new weight room would definitely have to be a top priority for LU if you had that money Sam.  I've seen the weight room first hand before and it could use an upgrade (slight understatement there).

Yeah, well coming back to earth means no more #1 RANKINGS...!!!!

LU will forever be competitive (as long as Tharp is there) but my reasoning behind my comments are from what I experienced at Ripon.  I know I've told this story before, but a guy named Adam Zakos (grad. in 99') was the last of many Ripon players that were a** kickers like Braier is.  He used to kick guys out of practice and except nothing but great effort everyday.   Ripon won 20 straight games in 98-99 and lost to either the national champion or a final for finisher in the second round.  My point being, is his attitude and work ethic was passed on to some of the younger guys...Glocke, Kohl, Massen, Brooks and Ripon went on to win a couple more championships along the way....Eventually the younger players, who were very good, never lead the same way and Ripon stopped being so dominant.  I'm really not trying to burst your bubble.  I think it's great for the MWC that LU has done what it has....amazing ride.  But just know guys like that hardly come around at this level...what a player.

If the other team doesn't score, you can't lose....

Don't give me that supporting cast BS again.  Flowers, who was a very very good player for Beloit just told us and listed all the good players Beloit has had.  Also, I'm tired of BC blaming coach YoungBlood.  How about working hard in the off-season??? I know that's a crazy concept...maybe lift some weights, do some ball handling drills, run a bit.  Also why you're at it...PRACTICE SOME FREETHROWS!!!  Making FT's has nothing to do with coaching unless the coach doesn't practice them at all....I know how about going to practice an hour early like Landish used to do and shot a ton of FT's.  Beloit players just didn't seem to care enough (excluding Josh Hinz).

Wow, I leave the office for a few hours and the board explodes.  A couple quick responses without copying all of quotes:

1. Justin-whatever-your-name-is...  You get to award Karma by having a certain number of posts.  I think it is 250. ??  At the rate you're going, you'll be passing out Karma (or Spite) by lunch tomorrow.

2.  d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y.   There is no "A" in this word.  Sorry, but this mistake happens much too often on a board for the "academically elite."   ;)

3a.  Sam J: Just busting your chops.  Will you're update include the "official band?"   8)

3b.  Watch out for what you say regarding gifts to your alma mater.  There may be a development officer or two on this board.   ;D

On another note, has anyone noticed that LU didn't get any headlines on this site once they got to the #1 spot?  It seems to me that a team that began the season unranked and is now #1 would be worthy of more recognition.  That's really a shame.

Flowers named alot of players from different years, never together on the same team.  But I'm talking about this year and last.  I honestly think BC was better as a squad when they had Hinz, Flowers, and Entwistle.  Maybe not as depp, but a better starting 5.  The FT point,  NO S*@T!!!!  Offseason,, you betcha!  I don't believe the supporting cast complaint is BS, but that is my opinion.  I just find it hard to win if you don't have a couple of guys (maybe only 2) that can be day in day out consistant.

If Braier had gone to Beloit, SkyNet would have taken over and there'd be Terminators running around everywhere.

I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not, but The Roop is making a whole lot of sense these days.  I sure hope I'm not drinking the NRO kool-aid right now.

Funny. The SkyNet/Terminator comment wasn't very well received at work today.

Mark you've got to rearrange the age schedule so this order is done in time to pack first thing in the morning, or else.............

Or else what ?? It's a stock order with a March due date. Will SkyNet take over and there be Terminators running around tomorrow if it's not in inventory three weeks early.

Don't (expletive deleted) with me (expletive deleted) just do it.

Management is not always NRO compliant.

I drove by Alexander today and there appeared to be additional bleachers being loaded into the building.  The revised capacity, according to a student walking by, will now exceed 5,000.

I hope its not cold Friday and Saturday because it is going to be damn cold without the North wall of Alexander Gym.   Maybe they can tape it shut with some flexible packaging from Curwood or something.  ::)   This will also improve the lighting for day games!!  8)

If Braier was at Point, we would have never recruited Jason Kalsow.  I'm not trying to compare them and I don't want to start a debate, but they basically play the same position.  Believe me, I think Braier is a monster and I love his intensity, but that Kalsow guy wasn't too bad either!  :D

Admittedly, you annoy me sometimes with your "rat" comments and "super bowl" comments.  But, every once in awhile you do come up with a classic post.  :P

You'll know when you're drinking the NRO Kool-Aid.  A giant pitcher with NRO printed on it will burst through your wall saying "OH YEA!"  I wouldn't drink any then though...there'd be debris in it.  ::)
