3a.  Sam J: Just busting your chops.  Will you're update include the "official band?"   8)

3b.  Watch out for what you say regarding gifts to your alma mater.  There may be a development officer or two on this board.   ;D

Ooooh...it must include the official band or I'll feel ashamed.  I like how in addition to the Haikus we're trying to give the blog a...shoot, I can't remember the CNNSI columnist who always talks about underground bands in his column...anyway, that type of feel.

As for the development officer issue, I get hounded on my cell pretty much every day to give money.  I have their phone # memorized and I ignore it.  I've already given this year, so BACK OFF!  :D

Since I'm gearing up for an uber update of the blog tonight prior to the MWC tourney, I'm looking for suggestions for an All-Glue team for the MWC.  To plagarize and paraphrase Seth Davis: The All-Glue team is a "proud tradition that recognizes players whose under-the-radar, won't-find-'em-in-the-box-score contributions are critical to their teams' success. They're not [the MWC's] biggest names, but their coaches and teammates fully appreciate their value. So should you."

Help me out.  ;)

It's etched not printed.

Etched, printed, I'm still not drinking any NRO Kool-Aid with debris in it.  ;)

the game

Come on M Flowers. 33-59 the past 4 years. At least 12 losses each year. Dolph Stanley said it. The record speaks for itself. Flowers, do you remember your 2nd to last game of your career at Lawrence. You guys had a chance to win in the latter moments of the game and u didn't get the ball  who got it?? Hinz as a freshman. U were the best player in the league but didn't get the ball with the game and a tourney spot on the line. Why is that?? Did u not want the ball?? U should of got it and  know u wanted it but it looked like the play was called for Hinz??  WHY??

The Roop

What if Mr. Flowers did get the ball and missed ??? It doesn't make much sense to bring up "what if" arguments about the past. "What if" arguments about the future can be pretty entertaining though. Here's a few examples:

What if you ran into a Country Bar and yelled Garth Brooks sucks. To make it really interesting wear a Jeff Gordon jacket when you do so.

What if you tried giving a Polar Bear a coke.

What if we lost WWII, we'd all be working for the Japanese. That might not be very funny now but it was hilarious when I worked for Toyota.

What if Napoleon had a B-52 bomber at Waterloo?

What if, instead of simply being blue all the time, the sky was God's mood ring?

What if bacon grew on trees?

What if the haiku was developed by the Finns instead of the Japanese?

If bacon did grow on trees, could you cut the tree down and make a pork barrel with it. Hmmmmmmm.

Cecil is a great coach.  PERIOD.  He is the reason I chose BC over schools like Platteville...

With all respect to Mr Flowers, this would put coach Younglbood's name on one of the shortest lists in history "Great College coaches with a career winning percentage of under :400.

Who else would qualify for this list with at least five years of head coaching experieince in the college ranks?

the game

For the past 5 years BC followers have raved about the teams talent. One thing Youngblood can do is recruit, He's gotten some out of Chicago, Madison, Wis and pretty much most of Wisconsin. In a backwards way, Maybe that could be the problem. Maybe he should recruit average players instead of really good ones like hinz, grant and flowers. Someone pointed out that it was the seniors this season who fouled up in end of game situations. That sounds like a knock on the players eventhough hinz and towns are 7 good basketball players. So the players are the problem looking at things in that fashion.  Once again this summer wil be crucial to the program. The Bucs need a Hinz successor to aid Horton, who looks like a player. They also need an athletic 6'1-6'3 wing player who can score on the wing. They haven't had one since flowers. (J Allen was nice, but 5'9) They could also use another kid about 6'2-6'4 who could play on the wing and in the post. That's 3 guys. Administration allowed BC 7 guys last year. They just need 3 for next year. Anybody with any insight on possible BC recruits??   Youngblood is notorious for having plenty of athletes in open gyms in the spring. However those guys always come up a few grades short.

Hello boys and girls and thank god we made the MWC tourney.  I know, I know it has been a while, but my self imposed silence is over.  Hopefully we will be able to give LU a run for their money, but it will be extremely tough under the circumstances.  I don't know to what extent the Knox contingency will be traveling to Appleton, and am guessing you may get anywhere from 2-12 people, so we forfeit all of our tickets to...well... the rest of the LU fans.  It should be an interesing little tourney with a stellar first game, and the second with some potential if Knox brings their A+ game.

Answering a past poster...Zick is a senior and will be a big loss for the fire next year.  However, with Maclin returning they can be a threat.  I hate to say it, but I believe Monmouth has a solid core and Carroll will undoubtedly challenge for the crown along with LU and the circus.  I believe this league has had unbelievable parity the past few years, especially this one, and it appears it will continue in the future which is great for our conference.  Nice to be back fellas, lets have a great weekend here in the Good ole' MWC.

Maybe he's a good recruiter, but a "bad" coach.  ???  If he has such great talent, why are his teams' records so bad?

In hopes of returning sanity to the System..ahem, MWC board:

Best of luck to GC in their game tonight with CC:

- may Ticus steal to his heart's content
- may Long dart under, over, and around those hulking CC players
- may Arsenault throw 'em out to the trey shoots
- may Langenhan, Carlson, Guzman, Schmidt, and Kennedy sink their 3s
- may Chamberlain rule  the basket AND the blocks
- may Martinez do his patented double-jump fake under the basket
- and may Grotberg drop, say, 40 or so tonight

May all these things happen, and then the 2 Jeffs will be satisfied.  ;D
Threes are better than twos....

Aren't you supposed to only refer to your players on a first-name basis?  Or is that just a result of coffee overdoses?   ;D

Since S-wash mentioned the lack of Knox fans making the trip, will Grinnellians be making the trek to Appleton by the hundreds or by the teens?

And, since "the wash" paid a compliment to Monmouth, I guess turnabout is fair play.  (I must be in a non-grumpy mood today.)  I think Knox has no chance of winning tonight,  but I hope they give Larry a very good game.  (Their games so far this year have been an 11 point win in G-burg and a 24 point win in Appleton.)

Maybe the best team win this weekend.
