does the wooden nickel sell Roopachino??

The Roop

No but they pour Leinies Honey Weise as fast as I can drink it. Well, that actually hasn't been proven. I had to drive so my pace was geared down slightly today.

Several coffee houses in the same area though.

Then again I was forced  to leave by security like all the other Carroll fans were.

Obviously I wasn't there.  So, after the first game, they shipped everyone out and made them stand back in line to get back into Alex?  You didn't have to buy separate tickets for each game, did you?

I think SJ's assessment of the GC CC game was quite fair. Grinnell DID play well in the first 12 minutes and held leads through most of that time period before the wheels fell off; or more accurately, when Carroll kicked it into gear. Carroll is a great team and they showed it last night. Larry is a great team and they showed it as well. Hope to catch the game this aft on the web because it certainly will be a Midwest Classic!

Many thanks to KGRN and David Borrough for traveling to Appelton to cover the GC CC game. The service you provide our area is incredible! For those of you who wonder what great sports coverage is like, get this: Last night KGRN covered HS boys and Girls sectional and regional basketball games and the state wrestling tourney for a nine county area AS WELL AS the college game, and David is driving back today to cover another regional BB game tonight. Just exceptional coverage for a small radio station and we love 'em for it. Thanks again!

Mr "The Roop"- thanks for your support last night! Wish i coulda been there too, but i'm sure you looked great in that shirt!

Some would say it was a disappointing  way for GC to end the season, but I have a different take. GC was picked to finish 7th, but made the tournament playing mostly midgets (sorry, Kieth and Doug, but without you guys and without Nordlund this team averages somewhere around 6'1"!),1st and 2nd years, and ended up playing only 2 seniors (Damn, we missed you, Paul!!). The leadership Jack and Toby brought will be greatly missed, but 95% of our point production is back and the 1st years have proved what they can do and will grow just as much as the 2nd years did! How can GC fans be too down taking THAT knowledge into next year!

Now, go show, Carroll and Larry!

JeffP - I think the proper term now is "little people."  I wouldn't want a Saints Rest boycott by all Grinnellians under 6'1".   ;)

Had a chance to get into the games at LU tonight.  Sam, what game did you watch in regards to CC and GC? You say Carroll came out and were missing layups. I believe the official stats show that they shot 81% from the floor in the 1st half.  Last time I checked that is a pretty good percentage to shoot.  You also said that they were slowing it up, but yet scored 81 points in 20 minutes.  Carroll had 51 assists, yes 51 assists for a new school record. Carroll scored 153 points for a new school record beating the 150 scored last month at Grinnell.  Roop the reason you are now called a whiner is because you had the audacity to question LU.  It is a joke that they come out with the policy of no pre selling of tickets but then change that so they can sell to their fans at halftime of the LU/Knox game.  I do not think any announcement was made during the Carroll game that would inform the Carroll fans that was going to happen.  Come on lets at least try to be fair to all involved.  Regardless it should be a great game on saturday.

hammer~
If you miss somewhere between 5-7 layups AND a dunk in the first 10 minutes, you aren't doing well.  I'd hope you notice that the reason they were 81% on FG's was b/c they got TONS of great open layups in the last 8-10 minutes of the first half.  Carroll probably shouldn't have trailed as long as they did.  I wasn't ragging on them, i thought GC was playing good System ball and they weren't quite ready for it.  You obviously watched the game through those stupid blinking sunglasses the CC fans had on, b/c while CC finished VERY strong (and got too much rest for their starters  :P) the first 10 minutes was NOT good if you're playing against GC.  I've watched LU play the System for 6 years now.  I know solid play against GC when I see it and missing open layups and Spriting dunks is not it.

I don't think Carroll fans have a whole lot to worry about.  Schultz was carrying around a stack of tickets like 4 inches thick for today's game.  But i guess LU was cheating or something (although i must admit the change of plans from the announced policy just looks bad).  Also keep in mind that the allotments that went to GC and KC are now on the table as well.  Plus, the gym wasn't technically sold out last night. I talked to the folks selling tix and they said they still had a few left.  If you aren't on your way up here already, you best hurry up!  ;D

I'm on my way to the Nickel to meet The Roop for a few adult pre-game beverages.  I'll post some details to another LU victory ( ;)) when I have them.

LU! LU! LU!

Sounds like Carroll's playing a heck of a game right now. The'll be tough to beat at this rate.

Oh and also the refs sound terrible again. But...you know...that shouldn't take away from a good game so far from the Pioneers.
