Facts, please. If you're going to disagree with me, let's see some facts.

Read the 2006 D3 handbook and what it says about how teams are selected for the tournament. Then mosey on over to this site's tournament archives (you can reach it from the site's front page; click on "Playoffs"), and this is what you'll see with regard to the WIAC and CCIW and how many teams they've gotten into the tourney per year this decade:

CCIW:
2000 -- Carthage
2001 -- Elmhurst, Carthage (Elite Eight), Ill. Wesleyan (nat'l 3rd place)
2002 -- Carthage (nat'l 3rd place)
2003 -- Ill. Wesleyan
2004 -- Ill. Wesleyan
2005 -- Ill. Wesleyan

WIAC:
2000 -- UWEC (nat'l 2nd place), UWSP (Elite Eight)
2001 -- UWEC
2002 -- UWO
2003 -- UWO (Elite Eight), UWSP
2004 -- UWSP (nat'l champs)
2005 -- UWSP (nat'l champs)

Yes, they wipe the slate clean. And, yes, you don't know what you're talking about.

I've heard Carroll is very good...looking forward to the game Friday.

No i still disagree with you.Had some other teams not fell flat on their faces in those years they would have gotton in based on Reputation. This year is a fine example. There have been more deserving teams in the past from the WIAC than the teams that got in this but they fell on their face at the wrong time.Take Lewis-Byers WW teams.Very talented and tough teams. But they lost to the wrong teams at the wrong time. And those WW teams would beat this WW team,I firmly believe that. There are several example of this in years past. But now with the extra slots available it makes it easier to get the 2nd and 3rd teams from those conferences in.I dont know much about the CCIW so i cant speak on them. But I do know the WIAC.And firmly believe what i have stated.ThankYou and my opinions are "MY" opinions.

Then don't accuse a highly respected poster of smoking something when he uses facts to SUPPORT his opinions.  You wonder why your karma is low, look no further than that statement.

Now you're just being silly.

This isn't about opinions. This is about cold, hard, clear facts. There is a very clear, well-documented process involved in how the D3 selection committee picks at-large teams every year, and that process does not involve "reputation". I invited you to take a look at the selection process by reading the handbook (which can be accessed from the NCAA website), but you seem more interested in just spouting your unsupported theories.

And I gave you concrete evidence that the tournament is, in fact, a clean slate each and every year in my last post. The WIAC and the CCIW are generally acknowledged to be two of the top conferences in the nation, and a lot of people think that they are the top two. Yet the record shows that the CCIW has been relegated to only one rep in the NCAA tournament five years out of six in this decade, and the WIAC has only had one rep in four out of the six. If the members of the committee weren't wiping the slate clean, and were instead allowing a conference's strength and postseason performance to carry over and influence them from year to year, this would not be the case.

This isn't one of those instances where two guys can sit next to each other on barstools and argue their opinions back and forth. This is a matter that is clearly decided by written rules (the D3 tournament handbook) and by documented history (past tourney fields).

This is a useless argument as im happy that all the teams got in as they finally got the respect they deserve.SO LETS END THIS.But I still have a different opinion. And i can live with being different in opinion that you.

The Roop

Titan2000,

Members of the "New Roop Order" never bow unless told to do so from up on high. Since you are now in violation, I will reveal secrets as to your lifetime membership status's. Or would that be statae ???

Pool A Members are those who post on the boards and do so with a Mac. It's an automatic bid type of thing. For this reason JeffP and Diehardfan are permanent members whether they like it or not. Pool C members are those who choose to join voluntarily. gobucs and Cabonney/Mr. Ypsi are two examples. Sam Johnson is provisional at the moment.

Then we have Titan2000. A Pool B. The NRO does not discriminate and we certainly didn't discriminate by accepting you in  :D  ;D  :D

Mr. Sager rates Pool C status for his bacon trees comment, but hasn't officially expressed an interest.

If Tharp doesn't win coach of the year, then the system is messed up.  Any coach whose team plays the quality opponents that LU did and goes undefeated is the hands down winner in my book.

I think Tharp should be national COY (especially if the voting is done before the play-offs start), but I kind of disagree with part of this point. To go undefeated is amazing and is a great reason enough, but who has LU really played? Carroll (great team this year) 3 times and UW-Oshkosh (predicted to be good, but fell off the face of the earth).

I am a staunch LU backer, but beyond those two teams, they haven't really played anyone with any kind of national recognition or reputation. When you look at a national COY, you need someone who coaches a team playing top caliber teams week in and week out.

I wish the MWC had that kind of reputation, but past LU and Carroll (and Grinnell I suppose), there was a huge drop off in the conference. Not their fault certainly and going undefeated no matter who you play should be enough to get you a national award, but I would disagree with the "quality opponents" argument... Just my two cents...

I'll be at Alex this weekend for the LU vs. North Central/St. Thomas game. I'm sure I'll swing by the "official" LU party zone afterwards (The Nickel), although I am a bit partial to Dr. Jekyll's as it was my hang-out in college many moons ago.
