This has been discussed here previously (i'm giving the credit on the first mention of this to Hoops Fan or Sager), so unless I'm crazy I do believe that LU is the 1st team in the history of the D3Hoops poll to start unranked (they were "Others Recieving Votes" in the pre-season poll) and finish ranked #1.

That's definately Sager's thing.

Actually, I plead guilty for that bit of trivia.

Are you really sure about Wendel and Harry?  I think their last few games were sub par.   :D

Carroll by 3 in OT.

This courtesy of Titan Q over on the "Carroll Conquers Illinois Wesleyan" board (that just came to me...).

Check out the DePauw halfcourt buzzer beater to get into the tournament.  Good stuff.

Scottie, man, you should read the front page once in a while. We've had that link up for 24 hours.

A. I just copied the link after reading it on the CCIW board.  That's all.  I notice you didn't give Titan Q a hard time.

B. I often tend to overlook the front page due to it's gross negligence in promoting MWC achievements.

If you made corn dog flavored ice cream, would you have to serve it on a stick ???

I think they should just make it a corn dog ice cream bar.....that would solve the problem. :D

No thanks, I will pass

Cool, now I'm a "starter."

Never thought I would get there talking about corn dogs, though.

A thousand apologies.  :)  Hopefully the karma gods can forgive me, lest a plague of angry posters descend upon me.  :-[

Not to worry, Sam.

If you check MY karma you'll relax about a plague of posters ever coming to my defense! ;D

Scottie:

You are going to get bounced by Coleman during the most important week of the year on D3 Hoops.com.

Nice pop,  though.  ;D

LU 81 BW 75 in the Championship. If your bracket doesn't have the same then you won't win.

Quote from: Old Fighting Scot on February 28, 2006, 11:12:57 AMfyi, wheaton was also in the tourney in 05.  that makes 04 and 02, the only years when neither the CCIW or WIAC got multiple teams in.  So 72% of the time this decade one of these two conferences has had multiple teams in the tourney....

on the contrary this I believe is the third (maybe 4th) time this decade the MWC has gotten two teams in.  So i guess we aint doin that bad...

Nice catch on Wheaton. I don't know why I left them out, since I was actually in Wheaton's gym for their opening-round game against Calvin last season. Nevertheless, that only makes two out of six years this decade that the CCIW has had multiple entries in the tourney prior to this year's expanded bracket. Same thing with the WIAC. I don't see how combining the two conferences proves that they are somehow the beneficiaries of the D3 selection committee's purported respect for power conferences.

I have only been able to find one year in this decade prior to this one in which the MWC had multiple entries: 2002.

2000 -- Ripon
2001 -- Grinnell
2002 -- Ripon, St. Norbert
2003 -- Illinois C.
2004 -- Lawrence
2005 -- Lawrence
