Careful Scottie, you'll wind up having to buy sharks with laser beams on their heads.

Ill-tempered Sea Bass.  I'm tired of correcting people on this site.  Get it right... there are no sharks with frickin laser beams on their heads!

Acutally in the 3rd movie, Scottie get's Dr. Evil frickin' sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their frickin' heads.

Pat, whatever motivated you to disclose that?  Do you like being slammed in the side of the head with a ball peen hammer?  Just wondering.

I disclosed it to let the original poster know that one doesn't have to be biased towards Hope or from Hope's conference ore region to vote that way.

Pat~

"I am not "familiar with" Hope but I voted for them No. 1 anyway."

While I guess it's nice to know you weren't being biased towards Hope because you not a Hope fan, but WOW...   I'd love to know your thought process on this one...so you just said the hell with it...I have one team (LU) that is undefeated, which is just about impossible to do (only one in the country for about the last two months), or I could pick a team with two losses....hmmmm oh wait, there's no way LU is that good...WHAT A JOKE!!!  I really find it hard to believe....LAWRENCE isn't John Fisher out in the east coast where they play no one on a consistant basis.

It just reiterates my point that most of these guys voting have no clue how good or how bad some of these teams are.  I really can't believe you would say that Pat...and not be kidding

Yes, but I think you'll agree that the third movie wasn't actually a movie, as it lacked any semblence of plot.  It was, however, an absolutely hilarious series of semi-related sketches.

"I don't know offhand who the other three voters are but the MIAA has only one ballot, just like the MWC does. Ever notice that our No. 1 is almost never unanimous? Unless a team is head and shoulders above everyone else, that isn't likely to happen. Until the final poll, of course, when whoever wins the national title gets all the votes, for a reason. "

I don't know Pat, Illinois Weslayen might still get a couple first place votes

Ummmm and most of the time, unless you're defending champs, and you come from a conference with Two Bids and you're undefeated still...that probably means you DESERVE the vote....maybe Hope is better, but what in your right mind would tell you that from the regular season?

Ryan Scott (Hoops Fan)

To give Pat some backup here.  I have been pushing for Lawrence #1 since I saw them in person in January.  However, with the competition and success Hope has had, I would be totally voting for them had I not seen either team play.  It's a traditionally strong program that has just made short work of a lot of good foes.  Their only losses were to top 15 teams on the road, which were later avenged in the conference tournament (at Calvin).  They've put up quite an impressive resume.  Honestly, with Lawrence getting a majority of votes and Hope getting a few, that seems to be an accurate statement of their standing nationally, which is exactly what the poll is supposed to do.

The question that should cause outrage is if any of those voters have Lawrence below #2 or #3.

I think mathematically you can figure out for yourself where all the Hope No. 1 voters have placed Lawrence.

Here's the responce LU is getting on the St. Thomas love association..oops I mean MIAC board..

Larry_U- I won't be at the game but i am very excited to play lawrence. Your beloved team now gets to exprience what it feels like to sit out a game and then attempt to play a tough competitive game against a team who is hungry as ****, much like myself and the tommies faced back in 2002 against Oshkosh. I don't care if you think you have 3 NBA prospects on your team, you suck and so do your pathetic players that are apparently so acclaimed. Keep in mind that your team is undefeated which means they have everything to lose and only minimal to gain, against a team that would love to stick foreign objects in lawrence mouths... innapropriate objects!

Braier or whatever his stupid name is, and Lawrence's pg are in big trouble because UST is looking to stick a catheter in their pee holes and straight bitch slap the entire team to send a message: Congratulations on being undefeated in a ****ty conference that the blind sisters of the poor could have won! We came to play ball, and we don't need the likes of your bitch asses getting in the way. Enjoy your first loss of the season on expense of a team that doesn't give a ****. Better luck next season.

Wow....and I thought Carroll fans were bad...
Talk about stupid and Ignorant....

To be fair, the MIAC poster was replying to Larry_u's assertions that whoever Lawrence's post player is would eat St. Thomas' post players alive, that the atmosphere at St. Thomas was inferior to the atmosphere at Lawrence, and that any St. Thomas fans planning on making the drive to Appleton shouldn't even waste their time because St. Thomas doesn't have much of a chance.  All of this may very well be true, but what sort of reply did you expect by posting that kind of stuff on the MIAC board, Larry_u?

Probably not one laced with profanity and references that would be deemed criminal in some more left-leaning states.

LAWRENCE isn't John Fisher out in the east coast where they play no one on a consistant basis.

And that is why Lawrence is No. 1, not No. 16 like SJF is now, or No. 3 with just three first-place votes like SJF was when it, too, went undefeated into the tournament last year.

I had SJF nowhere NEAR No. 2 or No. 3 on my ballot entering last year's tournament.

Well, you certainly are not going to give them any cookies :o  shame as they don't know what they are missing :P
Well, Lawrence won't be in Salem to get cookies anyway.  ;D
What is the common saying?
PULL!  ;)
That's it! You know I love you two, but it's time to start playing nice, or I'm going to have to start sending people to the corner. :D ;)

The only person who's never gonna get cookies in this room, is jeffp, because he had to go and bet the farm on them.  :)

Nothing annoys me more than having some fairweather fan of a team that has been really good the last few years come in and post crap like this.
My solution...ignore them.  If they're only posting 6 times you won't have to put up with much of this anyway. :D
What do you suggest that I do with the regular MWC posters who've recently decided to lump me in with all the CCIW posters who "don't respect the MWC?"  :-\
I like the Roop's solution.  After all, I've already recognized you as the founder and president of the "MWC deserves respect" club.  I have to say...its a sad day when those who were part of what I will term the "kimchee and spam" era on the MWC board are lumped in with the sad masses of CCIW fans who have not seen the light and the truth that is the MWC.  ::) Ok, so that was way overboard and totally in jest...in any case, I would take a bullet you any day Madame President.  ;)

Thank you kind sir (curtsys deeply). I love you too.  :-* :D ;)

After viewing your outstanding political skills, and your consistant ability to represent Lawrence well, including the way you recently patched things up with one Old School, I hereby nominate Samuel Johnson as my Vice President. Always smart to have someone from the inside as a running mate. ;) Hoops Fan and Ypsi may feel free to take whichever cabinet positions you desire, as well as any of the people voting in the Poster Poll, as they have consistantly rated both Lawrence and Carroll quite high this year.  :D

I shall be making my first "State of the Union" address on March 20th, 2006.

And now I really must leave, before I start sounding any more like Roop. ::)  ;)

Thank you, and may God Bless the United Teams of the Midwest Conference.  :D :D :D

UGH

Look Hope might just be better....I'm not arguing whether or not they are....it's the principle of a team going undefeated during the regular season...a team with a very good recent history of NCAA play, with an All-American (senior led team), which DESERVES everyones votes until they lose....I guarentee you any team from the midwest that goes undefeated is very deserving of a unanimous decision.

Ultimately, this is a silly argument...you vote for who you think is the number one team and no one's going to change your opinion.  Just seems crazy to think that someone would vote for a team with two losses (with a 20 point loss mixed in there) to a team with ZERO losses, especially when you aren't "familiar" with both teams.

Hoops Fan - I'm glad you agree with Pat

Scottie....would you please

mwc4life

And the award for the most smiley faces goes to.....

dren

It is not enough to be ranked #1 by 84% of the voters? What does it take?

Believe me ... you don't want to be the unanimous #1 unitl the tournament is over.... you still have something to prove to that 16%... if you don't believe me just ask the 1995 Hope team that was 26-0 entering the NCAAs and a unanimous #1 throughout the country before facing BUU in the first round.

I would love to see Hope and LU play just to settle this debate!

diehardfan

I'm only responsible for twelve of those, all the rest came from other people's posts and my signature.  :D
