LU hasn't looked particularly sharp the past few games. Seems like there have been a few lapses. So if they're due for a good one, now is the time. Gotta play all 40 against IWU, 35 minutes won't cut it.

Well if you want to know what happend at the end of the game,Thats on Tharps shoulders i think. When they got up big "HE" slowed them down to start running the clock instead of running themselves(which got them the lead) to keep the lead. That let the tommies back into it after a couple missed baskets and some huge 3's it got tight. But LU took the tommies best shot at the end,and still came out winners.

If that's true, Tharp's a good coach, he won't make that mistake again.

This should be a barnburner.  Both teams are excellent.  No need for any animosity between fans of the teams, we both have a lot to be proud of.

There is no need for dialogue about Shirk vs. Alexander, etal.  Just basketball.

Let's be positive and excited about D3 hoops this week and have fun in Appleton this weekend, no matter who wins the game.

I will see if I can get the Wooden Nickel menu on this board later this week;  Roop, do you have one at home?  I recall you liked the double dribble.

The Roop's right, LU has not been the number one team these last couple games. They have come out slow and luckily have been able to make the necessary adjustments around halftime to come back strong in the second half, and it's worked against teams like St. Thomas, Knox and even Carroll, but IWU is gonna be tough to beat even if LU plays its A game, much less a sub-par effort. Looking at what the did to UWW, you can't afford to come out slow against them.

As far as the St. Thomas game, Lawrence looked great after allowing the Tommies to kick our butts for the first five minutes or so. The defense was just fantastic, and that was necessary since the Vikes couldn't hit anything. But to be honest, I think playing a low-scoring, poor-shooting affair is just fine with these guys, just so long as they can force the other team into the same type of game. What it looked like happened to me was there was the perfect combination of time left in the game and a sizeable lead for Lawrence to let St. Thomas back into the game. That is, a 14-point lead with 5 minutes to go with Lawrence seemingly in control made it look as though all the Vikes had to do was hang on until the end. Instead, they were a little lax on defense (and #3 on St. Thomas went insane) and just barely squeaked one out.

I have to say, though, throwing away the first five minutes and the last five minutes of the game, Lawrence played some fantastic defense against a very offensively talented team, and IF we can expand that effort and focus to 40 minutes and IF we can hit the shots we've been hitting all season, Lawrence CAN be the best team in the nation.

No offense to St. Thomas, but I would have been very disappointed and somewhat surprised if Lawrence had lost that game. But I'm not about to predict a winner for this week's game, and feel that if LU loses it will have been to a very talented squad. Let's hope another team is not ready for LU's intensity and we can knock IWU out of their game.

When does it get announced whether the game is at LU or Wesleyan? If its been announced already, sorry... I've seen both Wesleyan and LU play at Carthage this year, and I don't think there is anyway this game will be decided by more than 5 or 6 points. Both teams are so solid and disciplined, its a shame they have to play this early in the post season.

larry_u

Redman...

it will be at Lawrence

I'm hoping to be there..and I hope they split the ticket sessions like was suggested, more LU fans that way..and a better chance for me to get tickets...

I'll be coming to Appleton...I just need to figure how to get into Alex...

Yes, I liked the double dribble but I had ordered a double play. The bill was correct for what I got so I didn't complain. Perhaps they should call the double play a B&B like they do at Wiggly Field here in Weston.

Roop, I hope you are wrong.   A game prefaced by mutual respect would be fine with me.

I assume the Wesleyan fans won't throws cans and bottles on the floor if they win or lose?

Ryan Scott (Hoops Fan)

Never assume anything, although if the IWU fans throw cans on the floor, they will probably be cans on Ensure and Metamucil.
