Here's hoping the true superfans did whatever it took to get seats...I'm hoping Alex can be rockin' like last Friday.

here's to hoping that the student I had seeking me out my seat was near the front of the line and got me one....if not I may have to take it upon myself to magicially disapeer from the green room and accidently wander up the wrong staircase that would accidently take me to court level....

No, I became a fan of this years LU team, and let me repeat THIS YEARS TEAM.  I've seen them play 3 times and of course played against most those guys (all the seniors sept Bradley) and really respect the way they play.  LU plays basketball the way all teams should play the game...with heart and determination.  I couldn't help but like this team.

I know it's been "floating around" how great of a coach Tharp is, and I'm not hear to disagree with you.  But take it from a guy whose played with great players and seen the effect great players have on their teammates....Coaching is a lot easier when you have guys like Briaer and MacGillis on your teams.  I'm extremely interested to see how well LU's program does without them next year.  I doubt its any coinsidence that Tharp's record as a coach has shot straight up on the charts the day Briaer set foot on LU's campus....there is a direct corellation there.  Tharp had one conference championship before Briaer was there.

Let me repeat, I am a fan of Coach Tharp and his team.  He and his little tantrums have won me over...for now.  But it will be interesting to see how LU reacts when there's no coach on the floor next year.

Just for the heck of it, I looked up ticket costs to get me a direct flight from San Diego where I will be on Saturday morning for my Adult and Infant CPR Instructor Training Class to Appleton, WI for the Elite 8 game. Unfortunately, I do not have 1000+ dollars to lay down to see one game.  :D :)

So good luck to everyone, and may the best team win.  ;)

Incidentally, someone posted a link on the CCIW chat that led to an online tour of Larry... sorta crazy to think about the fact that I was there oh... 7-8 years ago visiting the college and sitting in the student center thinking about how much I'd like going there. Looking at the virtural tour made me realize that I remebered quite a bit of the campus too!  Strange deja vu stuff. C'est la vie, je devine... nos chemins ne nous prennent jamais où nous pensons que nous allons!

For some reason, I always thought the gym was what turns out to be the art building. :D I guess that's what I get for being stuck in the basement physics lab the whole time I was there.

I also notice in some figure that were posted recently, that Larry's ranking has decreased a lot in the last 10 years since I was looking at colleges... I could have sworn they used to be 30 something, and now they're 52. What's up with that?  ???

What are Parkers now supposed to chant after every NP vs WC game, "Let's go enjoy tobacco products off-campus? - Gregory Sager

The only way LU does not have a coach on the floor is if Tharp remains seated during games. I'm surprised he has not been credited with an assist this year given how far he strays at times.  :D

During my visit to Darby I was regaled with stories about guys nailing Tharp for straying too far out onto the court.  If he's out of the box; he's fair game.  I think that's fun.

Well, our freshman classes started getting a LOT bigger around the time I graduated in '04, so I think they became a little less selective.  That in turn kills tons of other stats (like SAT, ACT, Top 10%, etc).  My personal opinion is that its b/c they needed to get more bodies in to make a lil' extra $$$.  :)

The one thing I learned in 4 years at LU is that the rankings are all about bragging rights and are rarely more than an indicator of the kind of experience you'll have.  I also looked at Grinnell (always Top 3-5) and my honest opinion is that in my major (psych) even a top ranked institution like GC would be pressed to beat what I got at LU.  That's why I don't buy into the "my school is better" idea...at least not at a serious level (I'll always dog RC for kicks).  ;D

Lol...I remember how the fans at Darby my frosh year thought he looked like a weasel and kept telling "Coach Weasel" to sit down.  I have to admit, i thought it was great when the students would sit behind our bench...it was hilarious.  A Nate Leverence story (for those MWC fans who remember Levy)...Coach had called a timeout and was talking to the starters.  The GC students are riding coach for something or other...Levy busts out laughing.  Coach looks up and Levy says "sorry coach, but that was too funny not to laugh" or something like that.  As much as I love the blue collar attititude of this LU team, its hard not to miss the laid back characters like Levy.  :D

I figured it was Lev who started/led the all-beard team at LU

Early

Levoy was not a laid back character when he stepped on the court......He was REAL laid back off the court.  He was my cousin's roomate for some years at Larry.  It was interesting when Levoy and I played, cause we would guard each other and my cousin had to chose sides.

Well, my frosh year was the year that a lot of shagginess definately made its way onto the team...that was the formative year for Chris MacGillis at least.  ;)

The Ripon fans once chanted "Jesus" at Levy once and were rewarded...he stepped out of the layup line to bless the crowd.  ;D

justin i am disappointed that you are scalping the tickets when you were the one going insane when you couldnt get one and just wanted someone to give you a ticket.  you should just sell them at face value to a fan who was unable to wait in line all day.

Secondly, Lawrence statistics have actually gone up continually over the past 3 years ie. act score sat score, gpa, # of valedictorians, and top 10% of class.  im not sure why us news does what it does but maybe we're not liberal enough lol

FYI: LU's supply of tickets sold out in 20 MINUTES today...seriously, thats just nuts.  :o
