It couldn't have happened to a nicer coach...   ;)

It really was a great moment when that desperation 3-ball fell through the hoop, wasn't it?  Down go the Squawks and Alford! ;D

As for the D-III Final Four, I don't think I could care less now that the MWC is out of it.  Sidebar...IWU lost 81-79 so it'll be Virginia Wesleyan and Wittenberg for the championship.

Also, "Roop", how many of those sources were credible and if you have any idea, how soon might this IWU move from CCIW to MWC take place?

And, how about Bradley (P-town in the house!) knocking off former Illinois Coach Bill Self and the Rok Choke Jayhawks?   ;D

It's not Frisbee Golf but for those in the Beloit area Skelton and Towns are currently organizing a Frisbee Football League. The source on that one is highly credible.

Secondly. Do LU fans chant "Carroll's a guys name" at the women's games ???

"I think IWU is likely to win it all, however, should they not. That might be a time for a road trip with many "4th Place" shirts to be worn. Be proud of the 25-1 shirt jackasses. Soon you may be in the MWC. Heard it from more than one source."

Roop,

Did I read this correctly, Illinois Wesleyan may be coming to the MWC??? Can you elaborate?

That was pretty sweet last night, scottie.  And I actually saw the Braves in person once this season also...maybe I brought them some good luck--ha! :D  I like the "Rok Choke Jayhawks", but prefer what I read in the Peoria Journal Star this morning: Rock, Chalk, Take a Walk!  Congrats to Bill Self on a second consecutive one-and-done in the Big Dance. ;D

Congratulations to former Beloit player and assistant coach Lance Randall on leading Oshkosh West to a Division 1 (largest division) state title tonight in what most consider an upset over Madison Memorial.

For those not aware of it, Lance's story is the stuff movies are made of.  Just prior to the start of last season, he left an assistant job at St Louis University to take over at West following the sudden death of his father who had been the long time coach.  Since arriving he has led the team to a 46-1 record highlighted by tonights win.  Towards the end of the game the entire Oshkosh fan base was chanting "Steven Randall" Lance's fathers name.  How he held it together on the sidelines during that is beyond me.

Lance was a D3 head coach at Webster while still in his 20's.  He has Pro coaching experience overseas as well as D1 assistant positions on his resume.  In addition, he seems to know every high school coach in the state of Wisconsin.  It would not surprise me to see him on the sideline of MWC games in the near future either with a position that is currently open or one that could become open due to a coach taking a new job or if other dismissals should take place.

There is absolutely nothing to this strange rumor.  IWU is not joining the MWC.

IWU switching to the MWC? Sure, and the Cubs and Brewers are switching to the American Association. Remember you heard it hear first. If anything in the next 10 years, I could possibly see a new league with IWU, U. of Chicago, Wash. U., Wheaton, DePauw, and 3 others. Notice that all 5 have basketball arenas that seat quite a bit more than 1100.

Maybe you could see it, but the U of C and Wash U can't. They're perfectly happy with the UAA, a league made up of schools that fit their profile (intermediate-sized private research universities of high academic prestige).

BTW, I noticed that you pointedly made reference to that magic 1,100 seating capacity, Lanny. Couldn't resist one last dig at Lawrence, eh?

I don't know where the rumor came from that the CCIW was going to split up and that several former members (including Illinois Wesleyan) were going to join the MWC, but it's one of the sillier ones I've heard this year.

Maybe it came from the man who lives in his own self-constructed world.  I am totally blown away by the number of people who take him seriously at this point.  NRO forever!

That being said, can't give you Karma for it because yours is too high already, I didn't sit around and invent the IWU story on my own. I merely relayed information I had heard, which actually seemed reasonable. Big difference from saying they MIGHT join the MWC and saying they WILL join the MWC. I wasn't deliberately fishing but maybe I'll use barbless hooks next time. MWC Spring meetings should be interesting though and you never know who might have a rep there.

The SCIAC/MWC plus add a team from Hawaii merger was an original though. That way the conference tournament could always be in Hawaii. Add those 5 teams from one of the above posts and it would be perfect. Single round robin, 24 game schedule leaving 1 game for a D1 exhibition or non-conference play.

That sounds 100% reasonable to me.

Maui might be the perfect location for The Roop University. What say you? If the Maharishi can have his own school, why not Wisconsin's own philosopher-king?
