Well Hoops Fan/Pat  I'm still wondering what made those 4 forwards better.  I truly am curious.  What do the voters look at?  Also, then explain how the two IWU AA's weren't even first team on the All-Midwest team?  I don't follow.

It makes a little more sense as to why Braier would be third team AA if you are strictly picking the AA's by PG, SG, F, PF, C.

Seems strange how the best player on a team for three years...a team that has made a ton of noise nationally...last undefeated team, would be considered worse.  I don't know the other 4 forwards that well...I'd be interested if anyone could list the numbers for those 4 forwards...along with teams record.

Am I the only one that believes winning should go along with determining "how good a player is."

As has been stated many times before the SIDs voted on the Regional teams.  D3 Hoops staff discussed the AA's with Pat having the final approval.  Instead of ripping Pat for not picking your guy why doesn't someone post some facts and stats comparing the players.  Oh wait, that would involve thought and being objective instead of subjective along with a little bit of work.  Better to just rip the people who do this because they love the game.

Actually, several posters have already commented on what a joke the nabc AA list is.

Justin, a word of advice - Pat has really been patient and let you slide, both for the abuse and for violation of the Terms of Service (#3: POSTS IN ALL CAPS WILL BE REMOVED).  Lighten up before you get banned from the boards.

What are you talking about.  Those shots better be at someone else.  I sincerely want to know what the criteria would be from the selection committee.  I never ONCE ripped Pat.  Why don't you calm down, along with Hoopsfan who apparently answers to Pat in some way.  I respect Pat...and this is not the issue.

Hoopsfan, thanks for the insight of the other players ahead of Briaer.  What this says to me, is a players cross-over, athletic ability...abitlity to dazzle the auidence with plays is the determining factor in how "good/great" a player may be....not the win/loss record.  The MVP/All-american comparison is an interesting one.  A player who sacrifices for the good of the team gets penalized for winning ball-games...so it seems.  You tell me that Briaer would be the MVP...The most valuable player...not for just LU, but the entire country.  Do you think he would do what he did at LU to every program in America? I would say yes....Although I'm not sure how all-around number of 15pts, 13brds (ridiculous) 4 assts. and 2 steals don't give him enough "personal" statistics to go along with his team WINNING...

Yes I was replying to you and others deal with it.  Winning, all the other players teams won, including a couple of teams who went further than LU.  If winning is a factor than you have just answered your own question.

I won't change it above but I was PO'ed when I posted above and the ripping comment was aimed at another.

I could make the arguement that Gian Paul Gonzales should have been at least second team if not first team at forward.  Although MSU finished 13-12 they would not have won more than four or five games if not for him.  He carried the team on his shoulders all season and was their main option in every game.  He averaged 27 points a game which was good enough for fourth in the nation.

24 Gian Paul Gonzalez.. 23-23  37.6  .573  .290  .883  8.9  1.7  14   3  27.0
I am happy he was named to the fourth team, he was also a Jostens finalist.

Simeon was the better team on Saturday night (not by much though), but I don't know how "desperate" Richwoods was to stay with them.  I think they proved they belonged after beating a 29-1 Aurora West team in the quarterfinals on Friday afternoon in a game that wasn't slowed down at all (many people thought Aurora West was far superior to Richwoods but that turned out to not be the case) and probably would have been able to hang with Simeon in a typical game.

Simeon would've won by 10-12 points in a typical game. Richwoods had no answer whatsoever for Derrick Rose (who does, though?), and Tim Flowers proved to be more than a match for Illini recruit Billy Cole, even though Flowers was spotting Cole four inches in height. Richwoods also lacked a wing with the athleticism of Josh Davis. Simeon was just a better team. Richwoods coach Mike Ellis did a very smart thing in refusing to expand or abandon his tightly-packed 2-3 zone; it really gave the Knights their fighting chance to win.

Simeon did slow down the game themselves at a couple of stretches, holding onto the ball for prolonged periods because Richwoods refused to come out of their zone. But that was strictly reactive on the part of the Wolverines; it was not their choice. They would've much preferred an open game. Simeon coach Robert Smith simply decided not to force the issue by playing Richwoods' game.

Any word from St. Norbert? I've heard Randall (the coach at Oshkosh West HS who just won an unbeaten state title) and the top assistant at Platteville are in the mix. Anyone have any news???

I heard something about some guy named Bennett; I don't know too much more.

My source tells me Bennett isn't interested.

There you go.  Stop whining now.  That is the "official" All-American team, not just some random website's team.

For all the MWC folks, raise your hands if you've seen more than just Chris Braier play.  Braier is a stud.  I've seen him the last several years and I'm sure he deserves All-American status.  But, there are other forwards in on other teams in other conferences to consider.  He's a Top Five Foward in the Nation!  Heck, the way I saw Zach Freeman play in the regional at Whitewater, the sectional at Lawrence and from what I read from the Final Four, he could've gotten All-American!

Braier wins the Josten's and you complain there is a female pictured and not him (by the way, go to notables, there's a picture of your hero).  Tharp gets All-Region Coach of the Year and you complain he has to share it.  Braier gets All-American (3rd team) and you complain he's not on the first team.

I can't wait until next year when Lawrence isn't ranked high enough in the preseason because Pat and the other d3hoopsters don't give LU and the MWC enough love.  Yeah well...

Old School:

That's funny.  LU wasn't ranked preseason this year either.  Did you forget that?  ::)

Guess we proved a few people wrong.  I know the rats were running up Highway 41 from Oshkosh later in the year.

You come off as a loud mouth ass, and as a result it colors people's opinions of the Larry fans.

Unfortunately, I couldn't agree more with that statement and it's colored my opinion somewhat...though it's not just JUSTINTYEM.
