Quote from: Hoops Fan on March 29, 2006, 01:15:23 PMNo then its unrated.  Underrated means people don't really know or talk about just how good a passer he is.  To be underrated assumes that he's been rated before, which is probably true in Cheboygan, but not on this board.

Perhaps they merely mentioned his name in Sheboygan.

The Roop

BTW Mr. Sager. Does the title of Philosopher King afford me any credits at North Park ? I need to carry a 12 credit load at UW-Marathon County this fall to be considered a full time student. So if you could somehow provide me with 8 credits to transfer I would fit the criteria (sort of) to be eligible to play NJCAA Basketball next season.

"Nobody has been able to stop him tonight and there he goes again............ I don't believe it. A dunk from the three point line and the crowd is going wild." "The Roop, The Roop, The Roop is on fire, we don't need no water.........." better not finish that one.

How's that for basketball related  :D

How can someone be an underrated passer if none of us have heard of him yet?

I don't think it matters that "none of us" have heard of him yet, if that's the case.  I guess it's only important for the coaches, like John Tharp, to have "heard of him."  I mean, isn't it their job to know of these players?  Seriously, do you know of every recruit "your" team brings in?  Probably not.  If you do, I commend you.  I was just posting what the paper said.

I'm sorry that it's only the Sheboygan area, where Sheboygan North has produced some solid products as well as Plymouth, to name a few area schools.  Josh Iserloth went to Point and he ended up 6th in Pointer scoring history and was a 3-time all-conference performer.  Not all stud recruits come from "big cities" like Milwaukee, Madison, GB, Osh etc.  Wow, didn't think there would be such a backlash on a recruit!

No big deal, OS.  That's just one that has always bugged me.  People say it all the time, "There's this kid out of New York with great athleticism and he's an underrated passer too, led the league with 8.9 assists per game."  See that's not underrated.  Presumably anyone who even remotely follows the kid is going to know how good a passer he is.  It's one of those words that gets so overused it makes me sick.  Anyway.

The kids sounds like a good get for Lawrence if it all works out.

Those stories are great, keep em coming. They're just like I remember.

::)

I'd try to do something to stamp down Roop's ego, but it's so big I can't even see it anymore.  :P ;D ;)

Karma though to both  of you cause those were some hilarious stories!  :-*

Isn't that an old George Carlin bit? Can "The Roop" have an ego so big that even he himself can't see it?

Also, can "The Roop" underrate a player he's never heard of yet?

I knew I should have taken more Philosophy classes.

The Roop

You mean that one guy someone is going to bring up next week ??? Sorry but I don't see all the fascination with his play making skills. He's a forward in a guards body.

Ouch. I hope you're kidding, because other wise, I feel old.

Seven words you can't say on TV?
The Cardinal in "Dogma"?
Mr. Conductor (after Ringo) on Shining Time Station?
Rufus on Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure?
Toledo Window box?
Brain Droppings?

The man is in Wikipedia, for God's sake!

First time I've ever given a smite for pop culture ingnorance, but I think others will back me up that it was justified.

And systemfan, April is a little older than me, so no need to feel old.

I don't think they were allowed to watch/read George Carlin at Wheaton.

Yeah. I can see that. He's an atheist.

OK, so my Dogma reference was no good...Toledo Window Box is out...those are seven words you can't say at Wheaton too...hey, what about Shining Time Station? That's would be OK at Wheaton, right?
