Flea-
Grinnell, for one, probably won't have faculty approval for the BBAll schedule until early/mid October. they are one of the last to post theirs to the D3hoops site. Hence, a complete MWC schedule won't be available til sometime in October.

I'm always a bit intrigued by restaurant chains I've never experienced. Culver's, f'rinstance; I've watched their ads during Cubs games for years, but I've never been in one. There aren't any in the city; the nearest one is in Franklin Park out by O'Hare Airport, and there's no direct route there. By car that Culver's is over 16 miles from my domicile.

Culver's are Wisconsin based... the second you hit Wisconsin, there's like one every block. It's extremely good for fast food. When my little sister came out to Wheaton to visit, it was always, "Let's go to Culvers!" (There is one a few miles from campus.) In fact, when I was living back in the DC area we used to joke all the time that we were going to drive to Ohio just to go to one.  :D I think when I come out there for a game sometime next year I will have to meet up with you and drive you to one.  :)

Cheese curds and german chocolate cake custard.... mmm....

What are Parkers now supposed to chant after every NP vs WC game, "Let's go enjoy tobacco products off-campus? - Gregory Sager

Culver's is my favorite fast food place to eat to get a burger.  They make it fresh, so it's not like a Whopper or Big Mac sitting under the heat lamp.  It's a little slower, but it's fresh.

I used to work at Hot n Now when I was in high school and I loved that place.  Hot n Now is Michigan based, so all those MIAA guys are probably familiar with that franchise.  There used to be a good handful of Hot n Nows in Wisconsin, but they've all closed down, I believe.

If someone wants to explain what a slider is, that would be great.  No experience with Waffle House, White Castle or Ritters....,

gobucs-
a slider is simply a White Castle burger so named because of the quick, er...'greasy' exit these culinary delights make from the average body. ;D :D ;D

Thanks JeffP-  knowing that fact, I think that I will stick with Culvers.......

The Roop

Hope nobody minds but I've got a basketball story.

I was cleaning out the car today, for those who have seen it you know how overdue that was. In the process I found the clipping from Hinzs monster game against Grinnell. The picture associated with the story is Skelton diving for a loose ball. Nobody keeps it real like the Beloit Daily News.  :D

So maybe the new St. Norbert coach likes Culver's? And by the way, who is the new St. Norbert coach? Or have they decided to drop men's basketball and open a fast food place ...

The Roop

Don't know much about the St. Norbert Coaching situation, but I have heard through entirely made up sources that Grinnell is in the process of using their endowment money as a down payment on the purchase of Saints Rest.

Apparently they also want the rights to the "Roopacinno", or however Jeff spells it, and so far I'm not interested. I can imagine 1.4 billion. When they come up with an amount of money that I can't imagine, then we'll talk.

An amount of money that you can't imagine... so would that be, like eleventeen dollars?  Or threve?  Or how about lucky number slevin? (which looks like a pretty good movie, I might add).

Re: Culvers

The original Culvers restaurant was in Sauk City, WI, and I'm good friends with someone who grew up with a Culver.  One of the things I appreciate about it is that it ISN'T just slapping the food together and getting you in and out.  They take their time and don't rush.  That's refreshing in a time of ATM's, drive thru's (they make you wait longer there too!) etc.  That was one of the things I appreciated about Waffle House, too.  Even though they seem to be trying to get people through a little quicker, they still have the southern gal taking your orders and yelling it to the cook, who repeats it and then cooks it where you can see...  I always liked that for some reason.

And just to sound off on the White Castle talk... I've had it a total of like 3 times in my 24 years, and IMHO, that's at least 2 times too many.  I still can't fully comprehend the concept of "steam grilling" and it still doesn't seem very appetizing.  Even at 3:00 am, I'd much more prefer something from Taco Bell.

Steam grilling is grilling the burgers on top of the onions, they do this at the White Mana Diner here in Jersey City and the burgers are much better than WC burgers, but I still love WC.

Yet another case of women stealing a perfectly fine boy's name and giving it to a girl.
