HEY PAL, DON'T BLOCK THE SHOT!

Mr. Ypsi

Little known fact about my athletic career: my varsity letter was as a javelin receiver.

[And to beat anyone to the follow-up punchline: "That explains a lot about Mr. Ypsi's posts!"] :P

Stick a fork in him; he's done.  (Or would that be a javelin? Several javelins bound together as a make-shift fork?  i'm not sure).

I'm sure it will feel like a javelin to the heart of all Alford supporters out there, when they hear that their beloved coach had his contract extended to 2010 with lofty raise...... ;D

Not even Cal Tech would hire the...fellow. I guess I'm stuck hating the head Choke-eye for several more years... :'(

The Roop

Get to the Rose Bowl first...... That is typical Big 10 thinking on the football side of life, and I'm not so sure that it hasn't carried over to basketball as well. I've no opinion of Alford either way but in his defense the Big 10 hasn't exactly torn up the NCAA Tournament in recent years. Illinois excepted.

Win the conference seems to be the priority, then take what you get afterwards. Get enough teams in and one should make a nice run and produce a big check and/or notoriety for the conference. How about trying to recruit to win a National Championship, that way the Big Ten might have more of them.

Here ends the lesson.

Yeah, Mr. "the Roop", but first you start with a decent coach...and you don't recruit from the Institution of Higher Education at Joliet.

digs

The problem is it is tough to recruit to Iowa City when the kids can go there or to Grin City.

Go Tigers!

Ugh.

I thought it was bad when he didn't get hired away, but to give him an extention?!?!  ???

Someone has been drinking the kool-aid in IC, because that clown has accomplished squat in his years there.

He's a pretty good recruiter and he teaches defense.  I think they keep him on a few more years, get a pretty good class in, then drop him for someone who knows how to win.

I might give you the defense, but I'm unconvinced on the recruiting. That team is going to struggle big time this year. The cupboard looks very bare.

Dolph Stanley

Looks like Carroll is getting a good one.

Bagguley to Carroll: Brookfield Central's Scott Bagguley will play basketball at Carroll. The three-year starter was a two-time first-team all-Greater Metro Conference pick. He averaged 19.4 points and 5.3 assists per game as a senior.

The Roop

And "The Roop" is likely to secure a recruit for the 2008-2009 season for Beloit College next weekend. No press release involved. This NRO Sanctioned event will be by invitation only.
