Bad news and good news Angel fans...

Bad news...most of the angels that kept us entertained in so many MWC blowouts have all graduated and moved on to other things...I know, i cried a few tears over this one.

However, like the Lawrence basketball team, the angels do not disapear into the night...like the team, they don;t rebuild, they reload.  I've seen the 2006-07 team picture, and will include a link below.  While my favorites have all gone...there may be some new blood for all of you to enjoy.

Here's the link:

Is it just me, or did Larry decide to take a page out of the GC playbook? There are 23 players suited up in the picture. What's up with that? Half those guys are never going to see the floor this year, and one third of the remaining players will only get garbage time, right?

Looks like they have a lot of hangers on.

Systemfan:

Don't flatter yourself.  LU has had a similar number for years.

The fact is, you are right to a point about playing time for some of them.  In I'd say 50% of the games that are close, LU only goes about half way down the bench, maybe 12 deep or so.  In the games, including blow-out victories against teams like Grinnell  :D, Tharp will go further down the bench all the way to the end if he can.

Being on the team at LU is not only about playing, it is about being part of something meaningful;  with all due respect,  you may need 23 guys to play that circus act you call basketball.  I'm sure some of the LU guys are happy you are around because it guarantees them a few more minutes a year, either because LU is up 25 or because the circus requires we sit some big guys and let our guards in to steal the bal away from you.

It is not an effort to copy.  That assertion is hilarious.  :D

LU has 1,YES 1 more guy than last year.Although thats not really true either.BJ Harry was on the team last year but never played because of injury I think.Otherwise they brought in only enough guys to fill the spots vacted by last years seniors.LOL,the system is a joke its like the Ol' Run and Shoot football. Its only good for entertainment value.

Ummmm...no offense, but, duh...it's hard to speak when your tongue is in your cheek.  ::)

I have to admit it was fun to get a rise out of the Larry fans.

blah, blah, circus...blah, blah, run-and-shoot...come on folks, can we come up with some thing new when you want to critique GC? I - for one - have become immune to those so-called slams. It's been 15 years of The System, and we're still using the same phrases from the first year or two. Bor-r-r-r-ring.  ;)

(That said, congrats on keeping it under control JUSTINYEM; I could have seen a much more...coarse...response from you; much appreciated!)

Ok. The brats at the concession stand leave a lot to be desired. Clearly they are not real brats. Although they do take care of each customer in about 45 seconds.

I will spend some quality time coming up with some better stuff next time, systemfan86.
I apologize for such a weak effort.  Both you and Sager have blasted me this week, I don't know if I should feel depressed or proud ???

I never had those brats Roop referenced but am thinking about a visit on 1.12.07 for the LU game.  I'll sneak in in the dead of night so you won't know I'm there.  I'll test the brats and let you know, Roop.

Make certain to wear a radiation suit when you sneak in. Grinnell still has all those Manhattan Projects going on. "Grinnell Iowa" and "Area Fifty One" both have the same number of letters. That proves it beyond any reasonable doubt.

Carroll and MWC faithful.

Thinking about heading down to Waukesha this weekend for the Point/Carroll game.  Just curious if there has been any issues getting tickets down there.  What is the capacity?  This website has it listed at 1100 and the Carroll website had the Lawrence/Carroll attendence at 1800!  Anyway, is there any need to buy tickets ahead of time?  Thanks.

To my knowledge nobody in the MWC even has tickets, let alone advanced sales. Just get there 30 minutes before tip off and you can pretty much pick your seat. MWC crowds typically arrive late.

This was taken from an Artile in the Appleton Post-Crescent- Pass system set

In anticipation of capacity crowds during certain basketball games this season, Lawrence will be utilizing a pass system. This pass system will be in effect for the following games, Nov. 21 vs. UW-Stevens Point, Jan. 20 vs. Grinnell, Feb. 7 vs. Ripon and Feb. 17 vs. Carroll.

Doors will open one hour before tip-off and passes will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. One pass will be issued per person. Admission will continue to be free.

Passes will be broken down into three categories — Lawrence students, faculty and staff (a Lawrence ID is required to receive one of these passes), opposing fans and general admission. The bleachers will have distinct seating areas for all three of these categories.

So the faculty can't sit in the student section, huh?  What happens if someone from UWSP come to visit friends lucky enough to get into Lawrence?  Will they have to watch basketball from separate sections?

SNAP..................... and a damn good one Hoops. Bravo.

Beyond that it sounds like Lawrence has adopted has adopted the "Marquis Game" policy that the Brewers have at Miller Park. Only that they have restricted seats instead of jacking up the price.

Not that I'm TOO worried (or should I be, T2K?) but I'm heading over to Apple town from SP after work in Tuesday (I'm done working at 6:00 pm, game starts at 7:00 pm).  With this new pass system, will they cap the number of tickets in each section?  I mean, I don't imagine that there will be a problem with tickets, but as this the first game of the year, and LU is the closest school to UWSP, it just might be...  Any thoughts?
