Good to see you out here again RiponRed34.  Too bad you are now starting from scratch.
Might I remind you about the karma......it's payback time! ;D

I think the correct term for the GC/Carthage game was 'ouch'. Carthage did a good job of shutting down GC's 3 point game, particularly when GC wasn't actually doing that to themselves.

There were some bright spots, particularly in the 1st half. But the last 5 minutes was painful to watch. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall in the GC locker room last night.
Threes are better than twos....

Greek Tragedy

I give LU credit.  They fought back and could've won the game.  But, their defense is suspect and had it not been for Point's shots not falling in the 2nd half, it would've been a blowout.  I don't think it was a case of stellar LU defense, just some bad choices by Point players and missing open looks.  LU fought hard and made it a game.  They have great depth and could repeat as MWC champs.  They have more depth than Carroll and more players that can make an impact.  Great atmosphere at the Alex last night...playoff feeling.

I'm sure Point will see LU down the road.

That comment about LU handling Point if this was later in the year is amusing.

I don't think there is much basis in fact in that comment either.  I am an LU fan but believe it would be a dogfight next time too.  Point is much better in a dogfight since they are, after all,  dogs.  ;D

It might be hard for them to get off to a start when you go 0-3 in the first 3 games of the season.

Last I heard they are still playing the game Saturday so anything can happen. 0-3 really isn't that big of deal because they're not going to be a Pool C contender this season anyway. They've got a stretch of  winnable games after that so the record will improve. The key is to play 40 minutes, not just 35 which they have now done twice.

Lots of teams will lose @Augustana by 17 this year so I don't think there's any shame in losing to a better team. The official NRO line on Saturdays game is Beloit +18. They will cover so bet the farm. As for an upset........ They will need to keep it close and keep Whitewater off the free throw line. I'd prefer they give up a lay-up for 2 rather than hacking and making it a 3 point play.

I'll take that bet.

Was anyone at Augie for the Beloit game? I was told today that the defense was very good for Beloit. The biggest problem was that Dowden got in foul trouble and the turnovers killed em. I guess Augie got about 15-20 pnts off to's. Now if they could start scoring points with the defense playing well they could be a  good team. Whitewater will be a big challenge no doubt, but the key is for them to get better every game and like roop said do it in conference.

Greek Tragedy

Is it a coincidence that I read no game reports or comments from any LU faithful after their loss to Point last night (I assume fightingtitan isn't an LU fan)?  Where is larry_u, t2k etc.?  I don't mean this as a total criticism to the LU faithful, but even your thoughts on the game would be interesting to compare them to my purple and gold tinted view of the game.  You know your team better than me, what do YOU think LU did wrong or right?  Disappointing, but not surprising.

Larry U lives in the Twin citites now, and listened to the game via webcast for about 30 seconds until i realized how I can;t listen to the current broadcaster without cringing at some of the ludicris things he says....

Also..some of us do work days around here wihtout internet access....

Anyways... sounds like Point played well, and LU struggled in the first half.  I'm sure this team will be good, but unless they really gel, i'm sure it will be a decent but not amazing team like the past 3 years.   I don;t really know, and i guess i can;t really give you a good opnion until i see them in person, and that ai;t happening till january at the earliest, so I'm gonna have to leave that to the people who actually are within a short drive of Alexander rather than my 5 hour trek.

I think the Point fan's view of the game is accurate.  LU did not play aggressively inside in the first half and did so in the second half.  Point got a lot of easy inside hoops in the first half, real easy, and had to work for their shots in the second half--I think part of the reason for the stats analysis above is LU defense.

The team is young and showed a lot of heart coming back fromwhat could have been an embarrassing blowout.  Hell, that Page shot could have fell for the win, easily.

I know the LU fans were dissapointed in losing but very pleased with the poise shown and look forward to the MWC season.  No one is talking 25 wins if that is insinuated in your comments.

Beloit suffered another big loss to Augustana today 69-52.   With Whitewater coming up next, Beloit doesn't have too good a chance to win this one either.

Don't sell out the Bucs before the game is even played. The Warhawks are not the world-beaters that both you and the D3hoops.com pollsters are making them out to be. UWW only beat lowly Marian of the NAthCon by four this evening, 74-70, and it wasn't one of those "deceptively close" scores, either. Marian had a four-point lead going into the last quarter, and they were down by a single possession with under twenty seconds left in the game.

I haven't seen Beloit, so I have no idea how good the Bucs are or how much of a chance they have against UWW. As Roop said, losing to Augustana by 17 in the Carver Center doesn't necessarily indicate a bad team. But don't think that the Warhawks are unbeatable, because they're not.

Mr. Sager, I thought they played two halves of 20 minutes in NCAA ball?

Oh no....................... Never question Mr. Sagers terminology, it leads to three page replies. LOL. ;D
