That Massey rating does include the two games over the weekend against the (now) 13th and 19th best teams in the country.

Massey's final ratings do have four WIAC schools in the top ten, so it could be a bit skewed this year.

FYI: Grinnell's schedule was 46th.

Massey ratings have been posted.

One thing that surprised me was the strength of schedule associated with the MWC.  Carroll had the 11 hardest according to massey and Ripon had the 24 hardest followed by LU with 36 and LFC with 56.  I forgot what Grinnell's was.

But still interesting none the less.  It seems MWC or Carroll for that matter, have played a tough schedule to prepare them for this run
Grinnell was 49. Given that the calculation uses all games through last Sunday, Carroll's number is likely higher after facing Augie and St. Thomas. Why does Massey have RC record as 13-10? When I looked at it Larry U's schedule was 40, Carroll was 13, and Ripon was 37. Wonder why the numbers are different?

The conference was ranked 7th overall

systemfan86, you're probably looking at the rankings without MOV, there is a small link near the top to go to the rankings with MOV which are more accurate.

Those are the ones Pat has been quoting all year.

Here's the link.

Off the top of my head:

I'm going to try not to name any franchises!
Guu's in downtown:  Great for burgers
The Final Score:  Sports bar and grill, serves food
Springville Wharf:  Must try the Cheesy Italian Fries
Hill Top Pub & Grill:  Great food, TVs, etc.  A common place for visiting teams' fans.
Bill's Pizza:  Downtown, eat in, take out or deliver (if you're hungary at the hotel after the game)
Topper's Pizza:  Delivery
The Wooden Chair:  Downtown, good for lunch on Saturday.
Sky Club Supper Club:  Great breakfast buffet (all you can eat)
Blueberry Muffin:  Nice little breakfast place
Olympic Restaurant:  breakfast

Oh yeah, go to Belt's for ice cream!  Seriously.

There is also the Point Brewery, not sure if they give tours on Saturdays.

A few others to supplement Old School...

The Sport Plate at SentryWorld:  Best Friday Fish Fry in town.
The Restaurant at SentryWorld:  Suit and tie. big bucks $$$
Pagliacci Taverna at SentryWorld:  Italian
Cranberry Creek:  Good sandwiches and dinners.
Red Mill Supper Club:  Fine dining, dinner only.
Michelle's:  Supper club located a block from Quandt.

Any Carroll posters coming to Point this weekend, and for that matter, any other MWC posters making the trip?  Point isn't too far for you "Northern" boys!

Stevens Point Sectional preview from the UWSP webpage...obviously 90% of it concerns the Point team.

Question about the strength of schedule? Wouldnt you think that a team like our (Monmouth) would have a better one than these teams because they are playing their fellow tough MWC schools and not one of them. Does that make sense? Including that MC played the #1 NAIA D-1 team and a top ten D-2 team. It just makes me think that with those teams with good records having really good SOS #'s would make some of the lower teams in the MWC have a pretty good one as well.

Great D3hoops story on Carroll, and here's an interesting quote from Monmouth's Terry Glasgow after the Pioneers won 81-59 at MC during what Coach Schultz called his team's pivotal weekend:

"Carroll played as well as anybody in our league has played ... They were solid all the way around and hit some critical shots. We could never get going. If I had to bet on a team to win conference, as long as they're not playing in Grinnell, it would be Carroll. I was very impressed. We got taken to the woodshed, make no mistake about it."

Turns out even at Grinnell, Carroll could not be stopped.

I was at the game in question, and there was not a single point where you felt Monmouth was in the game and was going to be OK. Carroll, which Monmouth had beaten earlier in the year, was consistently better throughout. Apparently, they were also much better than they had been in December.

Congratulations to the Pioneers, and thanks for the coverage, Pat.

I agree. We were just overwhelmed in every aspect of that game. I think we had it down to about 10 midway through the second half but Carroll responded with a run of their own. It was just one of those games that you dont even say anything in the locker room afterwards.
