It's also to be noted that both Drury (4th team) and Grotberg (HM) were preseason All-Americans as well.  I'm not sure if Grotberg will make the list when it comes out on Saturday, but Drury should make it.

I heard Oshkosh West beat Milwaukee King 34-32

Which team slowed the game down so much? they need a shot clock in high school, that is awful

Oshkosh West plays a slow tempo, but the thing that really slowed down the game was that in the 1st quarter King held the ball at half court for 3:10 before West started trapping.  The score at the end of 1 quarter was 4-3.  I agree with you.  HS definately needs a shot clock.  I have seen a lot of ball holding for big chunks of time this year.  Something needs to be done.

As for the game, West was up 31-21 with just a couple minutes left.  King hit 3-3s and hit a shot with about 30sec left that would have put them in the lead but the guy was called for an offensive foul.  King got the ball back and a 3-pointer missed and a put back was banked just a little too hard off the glass.  The ball hung on the rim for a split second before falling off.

Wisconsin High School Basketball doesn't have a shot clock?  I thought Wisconsin was the cradle of basketball, how could this be?

Illinois HS basketball does not have a shot clock either.

Well, I expected as much, but Wisconsin.  I am just totally shocked.

Illinois plays very good high school basketball.  Then, if they are good enough there kids find any reason they can to go elsewhere to play  in college.

I only meant that I expected the Illinois-Indiana axis of traditional high school ball to give little heed to the speed of games.  For some reason, I assumed Wisconsin was a little more progressive in that area.

The Roop

Should be a good one today as New Roop City High advanced and now faces a rather interesting opponent. X battled reach-itis yesterday and got in foul trouble but I don't expect that to happen twice. Should be a little lower scoring today with more set plays and half court offense. Could this be the "meeting" that Dolph predicted a while back ??

Well, I have been called "All Knowing" by at least one poster on this board.

Winner will have their hands full with Vincent in the final though I was very impressed with my first chance to see Recruit X's team yesterday.  Moved the ball very well, defend well, really a well coached club.

Have to hope that somehow Kimberly can continue their run tonight (I think its fair to call them a Cinderlela after entering Regionals with an 8-12 record) and hang with Vincent.  Loved the Kimberly fans shirt yesteday which featured the Jim Valvano quote "Don't Give Up, Don't Ever Give Up" on the back.

Shooot!  Gilman (from my area) misses an opportunity to knock off #1 Randolph and eventually loses in OT.  Gilman misses 4 straight FTs, inluding two front ends of 1-1s, in regulation.

Congratulations to Beloit College grad Lance Randall on winning his second consecutive Wisconsin Division 1 (largest division) boys state championship with an upset victory over top ranked Vincent.

The Roop

Not sure how much of an upset it was as Memorial had them beat Thursday and forgot to play defense in the final seconds of regulation. There needs to be a shot clock next year is all I know for sure. Diener simply got out coached and as far as I'm concerned the "real" championship was played Friday night when West played New Roop City.

The better team won so more power to them, it was also a much better game.

Congrats to Nate Drury on making 3rd team All-American.  Not bad being one of the top 15 players in the nation.

Any more word on the BC opening? I used to be from the area but have been out of touch. It is good to see all the posts and interest in the MWC.
