Last time I checked barely is all you need to cover and win your bet :P

Hard to say what an above average D2 is. Although if they had to go by the 6.5-1 ratio like D3 does their tournament would only have 11 teams in it I think. 32 should be plenty given the size of that division and you'd eliminate some unnecessary expense of matching up 16-11s vs. 15-12s.

Old School: who is replacing Krull in the middle for Point this year???  I liked their freshman last year(entire team for that matter) and would expect that you have a good year as a fan.   Will there be enough basketballs to go around?

Nut

I'm not really sure what freshman you liked last year, but none really played much of a role on the team.  Matt Moses played a lot and even started at the beginning of the season, but his role diminished drastically by mid-season.  Scott Hoelzel got more playing time as the season continued, so he might be a solid player this year.

There is no one that can fill Jon Krull's shoes.  Hoelzel is 6'6", so he might be able to fill some of the void in the middle.  I have high hopes for him.

Losing Krull is big, but with the graduations of 7-footers Jacob and John Nonemacher, Kerry Gibson, and POTY forward Joe Werner, the size of the league is a lot smaller, though there are still some pretty good power forwards in the league this year.

I said Freshman, but probably should have said bench.  Two guys impressed me at the LU game last year.  One was a freshman, Moses, who was 3-4.  I read he was a very good high school player.  The other player who impressed me off the bench was Jackson(soph).  He scored 10 points and seemed to have the best vertical game of any Point big guy.   I assume he might start in the Krull spot?  The other person on the team I thought was under-rated was Beamish, who does a bit of everything well including handling the ball.

Again, I think Point should be one of the top teams in the country again this year.

Not to pollute the MWC board with Pointer talk, but yeah, Matt Moses played a lot at the beginning of the season, but his P.T. faded midway through for some reason.  Beamish is the best all-around player we have, hands down and Jackson is definitely the most athletic.  On the WIAC board, I noted that some of us think Jackson is best served coming off the bench to provide that spark.

I'm surprised not to see any posts about the front page and Grinnell.  I've seen posts bicker about the MWC getting no love, so when they do, I would think you'd show your appreciation! lol  :D

You'd be surprised how little that happens. :)

Wasn't that mainly a Scottie and T2K issue though ??

Yes, very nice. I hate to say it, but I spend most of my time on D3Hoops in here and in other Posting Up subjects. I don't normally go to through the front page. (Sorry Pat).

I think the complaints on 'respect' were limited to a couple vocal people. They were usually met with the "earn your respect" responses. Oh, and I seem to remember posting something about the MWC getting a disproportionate number of players on the regional team a couple years ago.

Carroll has posted their roster and you have to give Schultz some credit, the guy can recruit.  Carroll lists 12 freshman along with a 13th new player who played football last year but will be playing his first year of BB.

Of the 14 players on last years roster who were underclassmen it looks like six have not returned including half of last years freshman (3 of 6)

Sorry fellas and Pat.  :( I just saw the Grinnell story today.   :DThanks again Pat for the headline story and for the website. :D :)

If I'm a 3dhoops fan, and not familiar with 'the system' I'm thinking, "Why does the leading scorer not qualify as a starter?   ??? oach get that kid into the starting line up."  Anyone else have that thought pop into their head? ::)

No actually I think it is better to not start him. If nothing else, it makes him that much harder to identify 45 seconds into the game.

I don't think that's the point.

Being described as a starter at Grinnell would seem to be an arbitrary designation. Who cares if you're on the floor the first 45 seconds?

;)

How long is Horton out? Does anyone know?

I had a screw put in my foot Wednesday and its supposed to be 6 weeks from then.

How does everyone think Grinnell will do in its opener against UW-Eau Claire? Should be a good opening test.

UWEC hasnt been strong in the WIAC of late, but WIAC programs as a whole are generarlly going to have a little more depth, size and athleticism accross the bard than MWC and other regional opponents
