Who wants to run the pickem this year...if noone else volunteers to do it, I will, but if someone else wants the job, say so now.

By saying that, you volunteered yourself! lol.  ;)

I'll play the conference schedule, but skip the preconference schedule!  (Right, Sager?) ??? ;D

No, Tom, it's non-conference. ;)

Seriously, the MWC is so large that its teams generally play two or three conference games in December, mixed in among their non-conference games, so to label their non-conference schedule as "pre-conference" really isn't accurate.

The Roop

For those worried about The Roops safety next week as I venture out of country, fear not. A Field Staffer and group of non-NRO Civilian contractors just completed a Preliminary security sweep of the area and found nothing out of order.

...shouldn't that read 'out of New Roop order'?

Did you have a worrisome premonition, Roop?

No, but a little pre-travel planning never hurts  ;)

Pretty quiet around here with opening weekend upon us, and I don't mean deer hunting!  A lot of teams in action-

Illinois College vs. #10 Capital in Ohio...Don't know much about the MWC south teams, but Capital will probably roll.
Grinnell vs. Eau Claire in Iowa...Grinnell should take care of the potential WIAC bottom-feeder.
St. Norb's at Concordia (IL)...I sense good things for the Green Knights this year.
Beloit at Platteville...Platteville is one of the WIAC favorites, especially with Skemp back from injury.
Lawrence at Dominican...Best game of the day.  Dominican is a sleeper in the NathCon and Lawrence wants to bounce back from last year.  Dominican in a close one.

Beloit vs. Edgewood...Edgewood is going to be tough this year with Averkamp and DeMarco.
Carroll at #3 Point...Carroll lost too many players to keep up with Point.
Lawrence at Concordia (IL)...Lawrence should rebound nicely.
Monmouth at Central Missouri State...No clue.
St. Norb's at Dominican...Another tough game, but Dominican may be too much
Illinois College vs. TBA (in Ohio)...always be aware of the TBA!
Grinnell vs. #13 Aurora/Wartburg (in Iowa)...Grinnell and Aurora would be a track meet.  Slight edge to Aurora.  How long is Arsenault out?

Lake Forest at Chicago...don't know much about either of these two.
Lake Forest vs. Ohio Wes./Trinity (TX)...I'll take the team not named Lake Forest.

Judging by how they won a game tonight scoring 65 points, I'm guessing Redlands is no longer running the system.  That Grinnell game out there is not going to be quite as exciting now.  Well, at least the Redlands kids know how to run it.  Maybe they'll get up for that game.

I think that is a safe bet, since the former Redlands coach will be on the Grinnell bench!

According to the box score beloit scored 8 points in the second half, missed their first 22 shots of the second half and hot 3-28 including 0-16 from beyond the arc in the second half.  Ouch.
