The Roop

Ahhhhh, they do have a new announcer. That explains some of the confusion about my post on the womens board.

I noticed that Lake Forest seems to be starting their late season rally like last year.  That should make for a very interesting scramble for the last playoff spots.

The Roop

Nut, that has happened the last 3 years. They haven't always made the tournament but the best time to play Lake Forest has always been early in the year.

And "The Roop" spake............

Lawrence 15-1
St. Norbert 11-5
Carroll 10-6
Lake Forest 9-7

So let it be written, so let it be done.

The sooner LU wraps it up so I can stand in line for my tickets the sooner I will be happy. One of the few positives of working 3rd shift. I can get to Appleton and back and still have a normal days sleep.

What do these coaches have in common?

Bo Ryan
John Calipari
Mike Krzyzewski
Roy Williams
David Arsenault

The are all innovators of the game

Roop,

Are you assuming Lawrence's only loss is at Carroll or when they play host to Beloit?  ;)

Yep, love him or hate him, Coach A is a definite innovator!

Best of luck tonight to GC in their battle against KC! Spread the system to Galesburg!

Threes are better than twos....

anyone else having problems with the live scoring on the SNC website?

thevicar

OK, that did it. SNC up 27-20 with 2:30 left in the half

GC 84, KC 76

An odd way to start the post, but kudos to whoever did the play-by-play for MWC TV. Nice  job!

So GC's shooting was extremely cold in the 1st half (3 for Grotberg? 0 for Long??) and yet they only trailed by 4. KC did some very nice work in turnovers - where GC normally excels. Yet the bench wasn't that deep and the effect was obvious a few minutes into the 2nd half. That, plus a revived Long, Schmidt, and Grotberg shooting game, and GC managed to pull ahead. By the last 10 minutes KC was puffing and GC was finally starting to look like the System in action.

Congrats to GC on a road win and grittiness in the face of cold shooting.

LU outscores Norbs by 15 in the second half to win.

Is there a chance LU runs the table in the conference for the second time in three years?????.....at Norb, at grinnell, at Lake Forest all out of the way.

LU overcame egregiously bad officiating to gut out a win on the road 65-56.   LU obviously got off to a slow start, but it's hard to separate LU's poor play from the laughably terrible calls that were going against them in the first half.  Basically, any SNC player could put their head down, barrel into the lane, throw up a terrible shot....and then count on getting bailed out by the refs.  Credit to SNC for taking advantage of it, but Lawrence did get flustered and started making turnovers and taking bad shots.

In the second half, LU took advantage of an aberrant run of fair officiating to eke out a lead that they were able to extend with solid foul shooting at the end of the game.  Ryan Kroeger went 9-9 from the FT line and Andy Hurley was 6-7.

Good win.  I suppose in the MWC, you have to accept that it's occasionally going to be 5 on 8, especially on the road.

Looking at the boxscore, SNC only went to the line 11 times.

Tied at 50 with 3:44 to go.

Lawrence 65, SNC 56

Carroll 99, Ripon 61

Wow, Wes Ladwig 12-13 fgs.

One other observation after looking at the box score: R.J. Roewe and Ahmed Idrissa have really stepped up their game this season. I didn't realize how much they had contributed last night until I looked at the stats. Nice work, guys!

Oh wise Roop, I would say you are overestimating some teams and underestimating others...

The Roop

No, I was just giving Coach A some bulletin board material by having Grinnell miss the tournament.

But to answer Toms question regarding LUs only loss. Yes, it will come against Beloit because we all know that they are going to run the table now.
