What would you propose we do to stop the "anti-athlete" snobbery that goes on ?? And it's not limited to Grinnell by any means. Charter a new school perhaps. That way the akedemik types could still have the prestige of Grinnell College while the athletes could attend the same classes yet compete as the College of Grinnell.

It's similar to an electronics purchase. You ask all your questions at Circuit City then go and get it at BestBuy.

The NCAA's Regional Rankings are up http://d3hoops.com/dailydose/2008/02/13/regional-rankings

Lawrence is #3 and Carroll is #7 in the Midwest Region.

Mr. Ypsi

Not sure what QQOI is (the late, unlamented QOWI?), but Larry was much lower than Augie or WashU (or Wheaton, Chicago, or IWU for that matter) on its replacement, OWP/OOWP.

You were right.  I was reading the chart Pat set up totally wrong. Post was deleted.

Regional rankings are listed below and color coded to give everyone an idea of where their team sits, in terms of who you want to root for!  For example, in the Midwest Region, Carroll College would really want Wheaton, Chicago and Ill.Wes. to drop games so they can move up the Pool C ladder.  And in the West Region, Stevens Point needs Occidental to keep that Pool A bid in the SCIAC and hope that Cal. Lutheran drops games to jump ahead of them in the Pool C race...looks like that loss out there to Cal. Lutheran really hurts Point right now.

BOLD is conference leader (Pool A)
RED is Pool C Contender
GREEN is Pool B contender...may need some help on those!

Final SNC 73 BC 62. Down 15 Beloit went on a 12-0 run to cut it to 3 but St. Norbert responded with a 7-0 run of their own. After that it was foul time and Norbert hit all their free throws.

Anyone got updates on the other games going on around the MWC tonight?

At halftime, LU over RC 35-30.  Lawrence shooting pretty badly, but Ripon's not exactly lighting it up either.

Whew!  Despite Lawrence doing everything possible to give away an 11 point lead with 3 minutes to play, LU holds on to win 87-83.  The game was close for most of the second half until LU hit some big threes by Dekker and Kadison to get a 9 point lead.  The last minute of the game featured some very uncharacteristic turnovers and missed free throws from LU, and Ripon had a chance to tie the game with a 3-pointer with 6 seconds left.  Fortunately, they missed and Rosenblatt hit a free throw to bring the lead to 4 points.  Nice job by LU gutting out a win on the road.  They have a chance to clinch the conference championship at home against Beloit and St. Norbert.

Really ragged game tonight.  LU shot poorly the first half and then Kadison and dekker made some threes as you said.  Page also got a slew of layups.
After watching him two games, I am very unimpressed with the Ripon coaches kid who is averaging 20 points.  He is not a good shooter or a very good passer that I can tell.  He is pretty quick which gets him to the line, but his FT average was pretty average tonight as well.   I personally do not want to hear anyone clammoring for him to be first team anything,,,,,just because you take a lot of shots for a bad team does not make you a good player.

Congrats to the Fighting Scots on completing the season sweep of the Prairie Fire, first time since the 2000-2001 season--back in my freshman year of college (man that already seems like a long time ago! :-X )

LU_nut, agreed about Gillespie, but I already said my peice about him the last time that LU and Ripon played.  Kadison or Rosenblatt (and Kroeger, of course) are definitely more deserving of first team honors than Gillespie.

I did not see your earier comments after his 4-16 game against LU.  I agree, I'd take any of the three you mentioned at this point, though in fairness they are uperclassmen.

Augie lost tonight.  They were number 1 in the region with LU 3rd.  For LU to make a deep run in the tourney, you really want to play in alex.  LU needs to keep winning including what might seem like a meaningless game at Carroll.  Love to see them make a run again.

LU_Nut, good catch on the Augie loss.  I'm not familiar enough with how these regional ranking work to tell.  Does Lawrence have a good chance to leapfrog them or does LU's weaker schedule still prevent that?
