OK, now can I ask about the seeding tie breaker?

Actually with Norbs loss to Larry and Carroll's loss to Ripon, the question is more complicated.

If Grinnell wins at IC they are in the 2v3 game next Friday. If they lose, they fall back into a tie with StN.
If Larry beats Carroll, then Carroll falls back into a tie with StN. Could potentially end up a three way tie.

I think GC has a good chance to win Saturday. They should end up in the 2v3 game. Does Carroll protect their home court Saturday and make it a Pioneer v Pioneer game?

Do Larry fans have a preference on which of the three you'd rather face in the first game of the tournament?

Congrats to John Grotberg on passing the 2000 point mark.

Barring injury, he should become Grinnell's all time scoring leader next year.

Crazy, but the Fighting Scots would be the fourth playoff team if they could have reversed the outcome in their two overtime defeats (vs. St. Norbert, at Grinnell). At 9-7, they would have won the tiebreaker by having a head-to-head win over another 9-7 team, St. Norbert.

It just goes to show what a very fine line there is between winning and losing in this league.

Maverick, found out that Eric Grant is ill, which is why he missed the final two games. Fair to say that Gruber (21 points, six boards last night) stepped up and answered the call in style.

Roop:  I am not biting on that.........no more openings for Old School to slap me down for whining(or in my view better the system).   I just got my Karma back from the last time. ::)

Systemfan86:  I certainly don't speak for the team, but I think it has always been the thought that it is a good thing to be in the opposite bracket from Grinnell.   I do not think that is because there necessarily is a greater fear of losing(depends on the year of course), but that the sense of at least the fans is that whoever plays them is likely more worn out for the next day.
As I have stated previously, I do think Chamberlin's return makes Grinnell additionally dangerous in the tourney this year.

For what it is worth, I am surprised by Carroll's loss yesterday.

PS

Congats to Grotberg on his 2000 and to Kroeger on his 1000.

Really very interesting that what are in my opinion the two best shooting guards in the conference hit the milestones the same time.  They are both juniors.   I used to think that when trying to rationalize system stats, you multiplied the system number by .6.   Maybe it is .5.   I think the value these two brings is pretty similiar.   They are both terrific players.

before I get in trouble with any Carroll fans, I am thinking of Ladwig as a point guard.......do Carroll fans still post?   They used to be the biggest trash talkers on the site 3-4 years ago.

I think William Wallace and his merry men drank themselves to death.  If they drank regularly like they did while attending the MWC tournament back in 04-06, then I'm quite sure they are no longer with us... I've never met a group that reeked like booze as bad as that crew...

I ran into him at the Point Sectional last year and he was in his usual state. He was the one that got kicked out if you were there to see it. Actually they just made him move to the upper level and keep quiet. He told me he was taking time off from school then and it's obvious he hasn't gone back yet. CC69, or whatever her screen name was, has probably graduated by now.

Isn't Fighting Scots unnecessarily repetitive? :D ;D

And after winning in Beloit by 25 you'd think they would have taken care of business at home. So they might be the 4th place team out right. That's the loss that effectively eliminated them as they had 5 of their last 6 on the road.

I wasn't expecting a 'fear of Grinnell' response. Larry's earned the #1 seed and shouldn't fear anyone. I was expecting more of an answer like the one you gave.

It seems clear that GC is a different team with Chamberlain in the lineup. I'm glad he has a chance to get a couple games under his belt before the tournament.

Here's one for Nut to ponder. Carroll gets the Pool A and a bye, while LU gets a Pool C and has to travel to Occidental with the winner going to Carroll. LMAO.

THAT'S JUST CRAZY TALK!  CARROLL WOULD NEVER GET A 1ST ROUND BYE! LOL...

Maybe instead of looking at those two games, look at the fact that they handed RIPON and BELOIT their first wins of the season.  Yeah, that still doesn't get them in, but those were pretty costly, especially that Beloit loss at home after beating them there by 24.

They got a bye in the Holiday Tournament they played in because the other team Wheaton (MA) I believe, couldn't make the trip. So you can never say never. LOL. I've heard that's how the NCAA plans to fix it for Nut. Maybe award a bid to an ineligible team then realize it too late to make a change and just cancel the game. So if it's a 58 team field this year you will know why.

that happened in wisconsin's high school football playoffs this year so Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School got a first round bye while everyone else had to play.

There we have it citizens............... I merely need to speculate it and it is true.
