Looking at a possible UW-Whitewater/Lawrence matchup?

If they decide to screw LU over, then in round 2 i could see it, probably at Whitewater which would really suck, but no earlier i would assume.

It will depend on whether Whitewater gets a bye or not.  if they do, then I can see LU hosting a 4 team pod for the first two rounds.  If neither Augie or Whitewater get a bye, I see LU going to one of those two places and having to play one or the other in the second round assuming both teams advance.

How unfortunately prophetic....

Fricking NCAA.....unbelievable...

Old School,

I really see Point getting out of their regional.  The MIAC has not done well at all in the post season, even in home games.

If LU gets by Wheaton, what are their chances at Whitewater in your opinion?  I would much rather have played them on a neutral court or in Alex.  I noticed you guys had no problem at home with them, but a different outcome at their place.   I saw them a couple of years ago in the tourney, but have not seen them since.

What is still bothersome is that LU has a better record than UWW and a significantly higher Oponents Winning Percentage.    I guess the NCAA just loves to watch games in their gym.

It is a nice gym!  :D

I expected WW to host, thats not a problem for me.  What pisses me off is that St. Thomas is hosting a 4 yeam pod, which I can only assume is due to the size of their gym.  LU I think has a much better case for hosting, but probably with Chicago and Point in that pod they think LU's gym is too small for the people who would make that short a trip, so instead they make a much further trip to a gym that can host about 1000 more people.

St. Thomas if they beat BV will have a tough second round game against either Chicago or Point, but they will at least be at home.  LU assuming they beat Wheaton, which by the way where they hell did that come from??  Will prob have a insanely tough second round game against WW in their gym.  In my recent past the only WIAC gym we have had any success in has been Oshkosh.

I wish it wasn' so, but due to the NCAA I don;t see LU making it any further than round 2.  Maybe I can change my mind before that, but I just don't see it happening.

I will say that  if there was one game in the NCAA tournament that could make April come out of hiding it would be her Wheaton squad against her second favorite squad in LU.  It should be interesting to see if she might suddenly reappear before the weekend....

Uh, Point has to play the UAA champs, Chicago in the first round.

Whitewater is tough.  They have a lot of size and quickness at the guard spot.  Myles McKay is real quick and has picked up his game since Matt Goodwin went down with a concussion.  He was out two or three games, but played vs. Point.  Goodwin is a candidate for Conference Player of the Year.

They will be tough, regardless where the game is played.  Point and Whitewater are big games every year.  The atmosphere was crazy down in WW on Saturday.  Usually, the WW crowd isn't much of a factor, IMO.  Two years ago, they hosted a pod with Ill. Wes., Carroll College and DePauw.  They didn't even sell out.

I didn't think there would be an all California bracket as they were predicting but I'm not sure how Whitewater doesn't get a bye. That blew LUs chance at hosting. The D3 gang usually gets most of them right so when they say WOW so many times this is an unusual field.

I've got no problem with Wooster being in the field but why are they going to Augustana ??

Maybe next year Lawrence should play 3 home games at UW-Oshkosh so they could use it in the post season to host. I believe it's 3 games when the NCAA considers it a home site. That's significant as there can be no neutral sites in D3 until the Final Four.

What a F-ing Joke.  Unbelievable that LU has to face Whitewater in the second round assuming both teams advance, and St. Thomas gets to host a regional.  Unfrickingbelievable.

Don't they know you're a dynasty?!  ::)

Seriously, best of luck to Larry. I don't think the conference did you any favors. Winning the MWC this year may not be much of a help.

Too many variables as to why they decided to set things up like they did. Try not to let it eat you up. You know the team will play hard - they always do - so they'll represent themselves well.

They will play hard, I just think its a really tough matchup in the second round assuming they can get by Wheaton, which I definatley can't guarantee.  I just wish they weren;t at Whitewater.  Too damn far away from the cities.  I'm gonna have to saty home and watch the St. Thomas pod this weekend and hope somehow LU advances and then I will travel for the sweet 16, but its gonna be a damn tough road.

OS:  bet you a nickel that you beat Chicago.   I know they are the UAA champs, but you guys have been there year in and out.   If you shoot well, you will come out of St. Thomas as the champs.

How do Lawrence and Wheaton compare?  I don't know much about Lawrence, beyond who they played.
My concerns would be if they have a strong offensive post presence (Wheaton can handle one, but not two, see Elmhurst and North Central), and if they are really physical on defense (seems to me one of the keys as to how IWU was able to beat Wheaton three times this year, and seemed to be the case up at Hope).
Questions for Lawrence fans and those who know the team:
How will you handle Raymond?  Have you faced a player like him this year?  Where do you see your strengths, and what would you be concerned about from Wheaton?

Well, the cities are 5+ hours for me, so if you promise to cheer on the Pointers, I'll take the two hour drive to Whitewater and cheer on Lawrence!  Deal? lol...
