While Lake Forest has Pilalis and a couple of other guards coming in, I heard that Sean McNamee who saw action in 18 games this season, will be transferring to NIU (no basketball) next year rather than returning to Lake Forest..

Greetings MWC fans from a (primarily) CCIW poster.

RECRUITING NEWS-----(Hopefully not previously reported)

Lake Forest---Has picked up 6'1" 2 guard Dave Pilalis from Wheaton North. Pilalis was recruited by a few CCIW teams as well as many MWC teams. He was the second leading scorer for WN, averaging 11.3 ppg. He made 59 3 pointers. His 3 main problems are 1) that he is not real quick, 2) he has a scorer's mentality which sometimes causes a rather lackadaisical attitude toward defense, and 3) he never met a shot he didn't like and will continue to throw up bricks even if he is having a horrendous shooting night. When he is on he can be a prolific scorer who can score in bunches. However, when he is off, he has not yet learned to concentrate on defense, passing, etc, and to defer to his teammates for a better scoring opportunity on those evenings.

11 points per game for a person who can score in bunches?  Must not have been a lot of bunches

My main reason in posting about Pilalis' commitment was just to disseminate a little information for the MWC fans who might like to know.

However, perhaps I should more fully explain for our more junior members who evidently have problems with comprehension where it comes to being able to "see" the components necessary to average 11.3 ppg. There were several games where Pilalis scored in the 20s. In these games his points usually came in "bunches." In other games he either didn't really need to score, or it was one of the nights I referred to when his shooting was off. Keep in mind WN was a pretty darn good team which featured a player (somehow) going DI, another going DII, a third going to Wheaton of the CCIW, and a forth who could easily play DIII basketball, but who will play soccer instead. Accordingly Pilalis' scoring was not always necessary or even very possible on those nights when his team was successful in going inside to their 6'6" and 6'8" players. He gathered enough "bunches" to be an attractive recruit to several schools.

So really what you just said in your last post was exactly what I said...I said he didn't score a lot of bunches, and you confirmed that by saying he had a lot of off nights

Despite being a junior member I still am able to figure out the difficult mathematical equation known as scoring average

Cool. New posters arguing and it's not even about anything I baited them in on. LOL. Looks like this should be a good year.

So really what you just said in your last post was exactly what I said...I said he didn't score a lot of bunches, and you confirmed that by saying he had a lot of off nights

Despite being a junior member I still am able to figure out the difficult mathematical equation known as scoring average

pgkevin-----

Despite your mom being able to enroll you in honors math where, by your own account, you mastered "difficult mathematical equations ," I'm afraid we are going to have to have you take remedial reading, and also to repeat Basic Logic 101.

1. If a player has several "off nights" he is going to have to have several nights where he is really "on" in order to average 11.3 ppg. In Pilalis' case, his "on" nights included often scoring in "bunches" at different points in those games. This comes from actual observation of his play in 7 or 8 games this past season, and not mere supposition as on your part.

2. NOwhere in my posts do I state he has a lot of off nights. Of course he had some, but I also stated that on other nights his lack of scoring was due to the fact that the bulk of his team's scoring that night was done by several other talented teammates.

3. Even if a player has "a lot" of off nights, its really illogical to say that because he did he couldn't often score in "bunches." In fact, if you factor in "a lot" of off nights, with their corresponding low scoring totals, you are also going to need several high point totals in order to achieve a scoring average of 11.3. In those high scoring games, which I referenced by stating he had several games in the 20s, its logical to assume that, especially from an outside shooter who tends to run hot and cold in the same evening, several of the higher point games featured scoring in "bunches"  wherein he would both hit and miss several shots within a relatively short period of time.  And again, I personally observed this on several occasions.

As I said pg, I was only initially trying to furnish readers of this board with some hopefully interesting recruiting information. The details of his play were based on personal observation and not illogical conclusions such as you put forth after not even being able to correctly read and subsequently comprehend what was said.
Hopefully the remedial reading and basic logic classes will aid your development in these areas.

The NRO Grapevine usually runs on a 72 hour delay during the off-season but based on "what I've heard" this is Beloits incoming class. Don't know much about most of them but if anybody does just talk it up and we'll all know.

Michael Horton, WI Alex McDonald, MN Matthew Hackbart, IL Travis Towns, WI Austin Weiss, IL
Derek Carrier, WI Jake Ewing, MN Deandre Crayton, TX Keifer Cary, WI

Looks like they will have the numbers for a J.V. team if they want; the next question is do they have enough uniforms ??
