Once again, Andone...sounds more like you have it in for any kid that chooses another school over North Central! The way I see it, you must sit in the stands with every recruits mother monitoring their conversations with potential coaches!
Phil Albrecht is a wonderful kid from an outstanding family.  I am sure as with any level headed parents, they let Phil make the decision on where he wanted to attend college and play basketball. Didn't know you got reports from college admission offices now.

Inside---

Yes, I sure have it in for him. Thats why I said the things about him that I did in my post #8752 on 6/15 in response to a question from System Error.

You did get one right---Phil is a great kid. And his parents (Mike & Vicki just to fill you in) are wonderful people.

As far as monitoring conversations---I DO have big ears. Furthermore, I usually keep them open and my mouth shut. You should try it sometime as you'll find its a good way to get correct information.

Considering that both schools are generally thought to be on the same relative academic plane, I still think the question of how he got onto one school and not the other is a valid question. Accordingly, as referenced above by pgkevin, the "decision" was pretty much taken out of his hands.

Lastly, as far as your comment that you "didn't know," lets just say there is a lot you don't know and leave it at that.

I had thought we were done with this subject, but you had to bring it up again. Enough about this.

Thanks, dad. Now can I have dinner?

Maybe he missed the application deadline ?? Maybe he didn't cross all his t's and dot all his lower case i's ??Maybe North Central had accepted all they could and St. Norbert simply had room for him..........................

Maybe you won't believe me say this, but there is a chance that no conspiracy is involved.

How about that ??

Enjoy your dinner Pat.

Good post Roop...ties directly into my original post (rant   ;))

Specifically, how someone so in-tune with the recruiting process is losing so much sleep over a denied application

That's kinda sorta how Beloit lost the kid from Texas. He was accepted but his brother wasn't, or maybe they didn't get enough financial aid to make it practical for both to go there at the same time. Not sure I'd want that tuition bill either. Sorry but I only got the short version and don't know exactly what the situation is/was. I guess they will have to make due with the remaining 8 that are still coming.

News Update
Still no response from Beloit College. So it's obvious that I'm still in the mix for the A.D. position.

I see you're taking the no news is good news approach.

Looks like you won't be able to hold duel positions with the Lawrence job

Actually I'm taking the "Who is more qualified than I" route. Yet I have not received a "thanks  but no thanks" letter from Beloit College. Therefore I'm still in the running. Here endeth the lesson...............

It is not in my nature to argue with the All-Knowing Roop. However, I was wondering if you could let us know who you think there 11 victories will be against in the MWC. Afterall, not only have they gone 2-14, 4-12 and 7-9 in the past three years, they have to play Carroll, Grinnell, Lawrence and St. Norbert twice this year.

The Roop

They split with Lawrence, Ripon, St. Norbert, Carroll and Grinnell. Then beat everybody else. Their non-conference schedule (with the exception of Augustana) is "Me and four other posters win those games." To borrow an Old School quote from a couple years ago.

That would be a great second season for Coach Vraney. Hopefully the Bucs can enter their season with the same confidence that you have for them. In the last three years the Bucs against these five opponents:

Lawrence:   0-6
Ripon:         1-5
St. Norbert: 2-2
Carroll:        0-6
Grinnell:      1-3

Although difficult, it is possible they can pull off upsets. With Carroll and LU having not lost to Beloit in over three years, it is going to be a real upset.

BTW, it doesn't seem very Roopish to have the Roop be announced hired as Beloit's new AD during an official press conference/meet and greet. I am going to assume that whoever is hired is merely a puppet in a Wizard of OZ operation with the Roop pulling all the strings and making all the decisions.
