Outside of basketball I think both schools would get murdered. My sister who goes to St. Norbert says there are talks at SNC about also changing to a university. Then you would be down to 8 teams. That would mean you could have 9 non-conference games and still be within MWC's limit of 23 games.

Why would St. Norbs becoming a university change anything?  I don't know the actual breakdown, but I'd suspect pretty close to half of d3 schools are universities.

Or is that some conference rule?

If it was a rule, wouldn't Carroll and Lawrence already be out?
And what a silly rule it would be!

hickory_cornhusker

It's not a rule but if Roop thinks Carroll and Lawrence should head to D2 because of their "University" names be prepared St. Norbert in the same boat soon.

Hey, I wanted to bring all that to Beloit but I was left out. Buying recruits, paying players, running a sports book. As usual it's all by the rules on the BC campus. Nothing says D2 like breaking the rules and not getting caught. Yet I had a way of keeping it D3 and not getting caught.

D1 athletes don't have to attend class, why should D3 athletes have to attend class ??

I was looking at rosters around the league and noticed that Hoyt Rees and Pat Ebbing are not listed as returnees for Lake Forest.

Its not surprising for a freshman to decided on another school after a year, but Rees was a 2 or 3 year starter I think. I don't think we have any LFC representation here, but could this be a mistake or perhaps Rees played somewhere else first and is out of eligibility?

Upon examination of the Lake Forest site it seems to confirm your thoughts on Rees but contradict the Ebbing thoughts.  I dont know if this is the site you were looking at and I'm just missing something, but even so it looks like of the 8 players listed as returners only 2 (Beyersdorf and Campbell) 3 if you count Ebbing played signifcant minutes/made significant contributions.  Once again I could be missing something, but that doesn't seem to bode too well for this upcoming year

My mistake PG, I overlooked Ebbing. Looks like just Rees that is missing.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has two interesting MWC-related reads today.

First was an article on Wisconsin's top schools rated by Forbes.com

Lawrence (68th) was highest rated Wisconsin school.  They also list costs to attend the school.  $39,650 for the Vikings.

Carroll University was 96th, Ripon at 109, St. Norb's at 140 completed the top four in Wisconsin.  WLC, Beloit and MSOE were listed as well.

The other article was on Beloit College's Mindset List.

That being said, does anyone know if Rees is just a mistake, it does seem unusual to start your first two years in a program and then quit, maybe he transfered to another school to play ball?  Probably wont get answered since we have no Lake Forest representation but maybe some speculation haha

pgkevin

Holy cow, you try to start any sort of conversation on here that doesn't involve Grinell or Lawrence and its like the plague has strickened all of the posters

Greek Tragedy

Most of the posters are Grinnell or Lawrence, along with Ripon and a few Beloit ones.  Besides, it is August!
