On that note, WIU is not going to surprise anyone.

Western Illinois would have a hard time making the D3 Tournament as a Pool B. Unless they could count this exhibition as in region and force a "play in" game with Cal-Tech  ;) Yes scottie, lets hear it.

Carrier won a slam dunk contest at the Viterbo camp not long ago but I don't think he'll average 9 per game. 10 dunks, 15 3s = The Beloit System.

Now all we need is some Curtis Blow in Flood Arena.................

Scottie is still hanging out on the football board, and wishes more of you fair weather fans would join him.   ;D

Scots 4: So, what was Coach Mo's demeanor like?  I have to think that his career has officially bottomed out.  Some personal decisions in Peoria may have started the downward sprial, so I hear.

I think it was hard to determine his demeanor there on the sidelines. However, the game was tied at halftime and it seemed WIU came out after somewhat of a lashing in the locker room. Honestly, there is just no talent on WIU at all. Usually when that happens in scrimmages between D-1 and D-3 schools, the D-1 team can get by with their size and quickness. I am not sure that WIU was that much quicker and they certainly werent much larger.

Going to that game was my gauge on how many games I am going to attend since I live right off campus. I think I'll make the drive to watch the Scots instead of staying and watching this.

Sounds like it may be more entertainment value (vs. WIU) to get season tickets for the Mules and drive over to Warrensburg.     :D

Oh yes, after seeing WIU play and playing against CMSU, CMSU wins that game 10/10 times and its not even close. Minnesota St. would beat WIU as well.

Now, technically, UCM.  Go Mules!!  Go Jennies!!

Hopefully they get all the dead flies off the floor. I have never seen anything like that.

Every year that we went over there we would find/see/sit on/step on hundreds of dead flies. This is something we always remembered from playing there. I have no idea why they were there or anything about that, but half the team is usually too grossed out to sit and stretch on the court before the game. Haha, it was just the strangest thing ever.

System Error

Am I wrong or weren't the pre-season polls supposed to come out yesterday???

Scots4

I dont know..but the MWC website has changed the date of release three times now.

The Roop

Word out of Beloit is that they have recognized a need for more male athletes in the acceptance process. WELL DUH !! I just hope that translates into giving a recruit a quick answer either way. And if accepted a good idea of what the financial aid package will be. Not a month and a half later.

I haven't received any "How do we control The Roop" emails yet. So it's possible that the new A.D. is NRO compliant.

So what's the over/under on the number of days the pre-season poll out before the season starts? First game is this Saturday.

I just noticed that Grinnell's first games are home games against Baptist Bible and Manhattan Christian.

Home games, folks. I'm trying to imagine the players from two Christian schools on campus at Grinnell - the school that put liberal in Liberal Arts. The mind reels.  ::)

The phrase "Dogs and Cats! Living together!" echos in my head.

Not sure which these teams are going to find more shocking, the System game pace or the characters in the stands and on campus.

Wish I could be a fly on the wall to hear the discussions in those locker rooms.

With all due apologies to the folks who hate the Grinnell focus on stats...

John Grotberg has a chance to break the D3 career scoring record this year; it's not likely that he will - he have to score 867 points which is 144 more than he's scored in any season so far - but he has a chance. If he scores at the pace he has the last two seasons, he ends up 3rd all time in D3.

He needs a 144 to tie Jeff Clement for the all time 3's made mark in D3. That's very possible since he made 140 last year.

Dave Arseneault won't reach the all time assist record - he'd need almost 300 this year - but if he repeats his 219 from last year, he'll be 4th all time.

I think it's fair to say this is the year that Grinnell needs to make some noise. It's been a great run with these two, and add Bobby Long's break out last year, and you have some talent. Here's hoping the bigs that they have can contribute.

Where Paul Nordlund and Keith Chamberlain when you need them?   ;)

Roop--by "a need for more male athletes" is it your impression that Beloit intends to relax its admission standards when reviewing an application from a (boarderline) male athlete that would not previously have been admitted?

Roop and anyone else---Does anyone believe this already happens at any other  conference schools and, if so, how widespread is it? Thanks.

Greek Tragedy

My college team played Maranatha Baptist and the cheerleaders still wore long skirts.

I got a Grinnell shirt that says, "Where the HELL is Grinnell?"

Normally, it's #$%@ out or says HECK...liberal indeed!
