Once you get to 200 posts an [applaud] and a [smite] button will appear below a posters name. Basically you either agree or disagree with what they said. Each post doesn't get it's own vote like it used to.

My "other" vote is for Patrick Kenny. Andy Horton now has a supporting cast around him so his numbers may not be as gaudy as many expect. He'll play limited minutes tonight @Benedictine but I'm sure he'll be 100% for the conference schedule. Kenny however will run the offense all season and as he goes, I think the team follows.

15 3s, 10 dunks = The Beloit System.

I voted for John Grotberg. I have guarded all the players on that list and system or not, I believe he was the toughest to guard.

I'm sure you all know who I voted for.....

Hello compassionate MWC friends and fans...been a long time, I KNOW!!!...few questions...Does our conference do anything with a preseason All-conference team(s)?  if so has anything been put together yet?  Is there going to be a pick em league this year?

Looking forward to rejoining MOST of you for this season...sorry scottie...just kidding, I enjoy your insight and playful jabs.

Thanks for the shout-out, Sii...Siwa...........Siwaaaa......sorry I just can't get myself to type out that word.   ;D  Just kidding.  I wish your team (more specifcally, your coaching staff) good luck this year.  I'm still in Football Mode, so my witty banter will be sparse for the time being.

Good luck to the Scots tomorrow night against the Mules, although I think the score will be a little lopsided.  Regular DIII competition is not far away.

p.s.  I vote Steve Kohl for POY.   8)

LU at UW-Zero tonight...should be a good first test to see how good LU will be this year, and also compare itself to SNC.

Greek Tragedy

Oshkosh may have a down year because of the lack of depth they have.  Last year they had a lack of depth with the 4 of the starters probably averaging 35 minutes a game.  This year, they still have DJ Marsh, Matt Miller and Dane Seckar-Anderson.  However, they lose starter Jordan Johnson to graduation, who was underrated and also lose starter Greg Schrimpf, who is out for the year, I believe, due to injury.  It's going to be even tougher for Oshkosh this year.

I chose Wes Ladwig.  I feel he is more of the complete player.  He is a very smooth player that doesn't make mistakes and can kill you in many ways, especially at the end of a ball game.  His penetration, soft touch, the ability to distribute the ball coupled with his solid guard D make him most valuable to his team.  I think LU survives without Kroger and Grinnell without Grotberg.  However, I think Carroll would take a hit without Ladwig.  (I say this in no disrespect to the rest of Carroll's lineup.  I just think he makes the other 4 on the floor that much better).

I think the system doesn't allow Grotberg the same opportunity (I'm sure some will disagree).  However, I feel he would excel in whatever system you put him in.  I think it is an amazing feat in its self that an individual excels in such a team-oriented system.

Kroger, damn it was tough not to choose him.  The kid has skills and raw ability.  He can just plain fill it up.  If I could only choose two...

Here's to a great MWC season!

My apologies to Mr. KroEger...

LU leads UW-O 34-30 at the half.  Kroeger has 8 points but is 0-5 from 3-point range.  Dustin Lee chipping in of the bench with 8 points including 2-3 for threes.  Live stats here..  Radio links here.

p.s.  I still chose Steve Kohl.

Starters were Kenny, Lovgren, Towns, Horton and Horton. Although neither heard a Who I'm told. Towns lead the way with 13 by going 6-6, 1-1 beyond the arc and 0-1 at the stripe. Not a bad debut.

The Bucs don't appear to be a 10th place team to me.

Ouch!  LU gets outscored in the second half 54-47 to lose 84-81.   Decent run at the end to make it close, but they trailed by 8-9 points for most of the half.  It's not too hard to see the problem for LU; they simply don't have a big guy with the inside presence they had with Hurley last year.  They were outrebounded by a ridiculous 44-25 margin and gave up 17! offensive boards.  UW-O center Seckar-Anderson torched them for 29 points and went 15-20 from the line.  LU also shot uncharacteristically poorly from the 3-point line, going 8-30 with Kroeger missing his first 7 and only making 1 the entire game.

Bright spots: Junior Dustin Lee returned to the team and seemed to provide an offensive spark off the bench with 14 points.  LU did ok getting to the line and taking advantage with 17-20 free throws.  The Vikes took care of the ball with only 11 turnovers.

Still, a tough loss.  Obviously, LU can still win the conference and make it back to the national tournament but this loss makes it even less likely that they could host a "pod" in the tournament.  OK, maybe I'm looking way too far ahead.  We'll see if they can rebound (both figuratively and literally) on Friday when they play at home against Coe College.

Slow down there, wc2viking:  You can put your pod hosting on hold for just a little bit....give the rest of the conference a little hope.  ;)

On a serious note, I was trying to locate the Monmouth/Mules score, but it is not up yet on the Central Missouri website.  Perhaps, the hosts were too embarrassed by the loss to put up the score.  ha ha!
